INDIANOLA, Iowa — Elizabeth Warren issued a warning to Israel if it continues building settlements in the West Bank.

The Massachusetts senator was asked after a town hall in Iowa whether she was open to making U.S. aid conditional on an agreement with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to halt construction in a territory Israel won in a defensive war in 1967, which is home to about 3 million Palestinians and roughly 400,000 Jews.

"Right now, Netanyahu says that he is going to take Israel in a direction of increasing settlements. That does not move us toward a two-state solution. It is the official policy of the United States of America to support a two-state solution. And if Israel is moving in the opposite direction, everything's on the table," she told reporters at Simpson College in Indianola on Sunday.

While Donald Trump’s opponents in the Democratic primary are calling him out for betraying our Kurdish allies, one of the front-runners suggests doing the same thing to our Israeli allies. Speaking in Iowa over the weekend, Elizabeth Warren offered what in diplomatic terms would be an ultimatum, one that hints at the use of military force, in order to demand that Israel adopt a plan that the Palestinians have never honestly backed in the first place

To the unschooled, which apparently includes Warren, “everything is on the table” is a formulation that US presidents use in relation to hostile nations. It serves as a warning of potential military action to enforce American or international interests. It is not the kind of language one uses with allies. Given the amount of criticism Trump got for his weird letter to Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan, one would think Warren’s threat would get a similar amount of criticism, or at least scrutiny.

While Fauxcahontas may not have meant that the US would take military action against Israel, it is reasonable to understand her to mean that the US would cut off Israel in regard to military and intelligence cooperation and even to rescind recognition of Israel's right to exist. IOW, pretty much what Israel-Haters like Omar demand. As article author Morrissey pointed out, this is not how allies are treated.

I agree with what seems to me like the self-hatred of Northeastern Jews,but I think when push comes to shove and everything is out in the public eye,they would be embarrassed to not vote WITH the tribe.

I have nothing but my own instincts and my own viewpoints on human nature to base this on,but it is what I think. They may want to appear to be trendy and PC and "above it all citizens of the world" when it's theory or unimportant issues actually happening,but IMHO Jews have just been too brutalized as a people over the centuries to not stick together and support one another when the Tribe is in actual danger. 

I could easily be wrong,though. I don't know that many Jews personally in real life,but the ones I do know may hate the stereotypical NYC Jew more than anybody but a Kluxxer. Even then it's close.

Give up the West Bank?  Trump merely recommends that a Ukraine prosecutor be rehired (which didn't happen), and the Left screms "Impeachment!"  Yet Warren threatens to cut off billions in US aid if her demand isn't met, and no one says a word.

That is true.  Being "Democrat" is to belong to a tribe with stronger ties than mere Zionism.  In fact, US Dem Jews seem to pride themselves on their anti-Zionist tendencies.  I'd call it a wash with US Jewry that doesn't give a snot about whether Israel lives, dies, sinks or swims.

She is threatening more than just aid. The term "everything is on the table" has only one meaning when said by any world leader. 'Everything is on the table', always means that military force is being considered.

She may be too stupid to know the meaning of what she said. But ultimately she has just told Israel that if they do not obey her commands then use of American 'military force' to compel them to do so, is an option. Or rather, use of military force is, 'on the table'.
