NLCS Game Three: Nationals vs. Cardinals, live thread.
« on: October 14, 2019, 11:49:09 pm »
The Cardinals go in order to open at Nationals Park with two strikeouts around a ground out.

It's boy wonders past (Stephen Strasburg) and present (Jack Flaherty) on the mound tonight.

No score, middle of the first . . .

Anthony Rendon draws a two-out walk but Juan Soto looks at strike three after a full count, the Nats may be trying to make Flaherty work extra early.

No score after one full.

Marcell Ozuna wastes his own leadoff double when he gets hung up in a rundown by Strasburg who fakes throws then tags him. The Cardinals make Strasburg work a little more in the second but come away empty.

No score, middle second.

We all waiting with bated breath...announcers included, to see if Juan Soto would start up again with his batter's box antics.

On the 1st pitch, Soto crouch down glaring with right foot extended, scraping the dirt like a bull.

He looked at both strike 2 and strike 3.

Ozuna is Exhibit A why the Cardinals aren't going anywhere this year.

Those base-running mistakes are to be made in April and May, not October.

I'm sorry, but I have to point this out....

The fans in camera-view behind home plate not only NOT everyday baseball fans, they are Washington, D.C. people who secured the "hottest tickets in town".

They're not only 'corporate', they D.C. corporate.   YAWN!!

I'd be up screaming with every K.

Anthony Rendon just took a sure extra-base leadoff hit away from Paul DeJong with a diving stab, spin, and throw to stretching Ryan Zimmerman to nail him!

97 mph fastball to Strasburg ready to sac bunt....I hold my breath, thinking of Trey Turner's injury missing 2 months because of SMASHED wrapped-around-the-bat fingers.

He got the bunt down successfully. And lived to tell about it.  wink777

RBI single up the middle by Adam Eaton, returning Victor Robles scores, and it's 1-0 Nats!

Ozuna in left slides slightly prematurely and the ball popped in and out of his glove, Eaton came around to score, looks like it may be ruled a double but that's bad defense by Ozuna. And it's 2-0 Nats . . . still hitting, bottom of the third . . .

Line drive into right center rolling to the wall by Howie Kendrick, Rendon and Soto score after moving to third and second on a wild pitch, 4-0 Nats!! Still hitting, bottom of the third . . .

Ryan Zimmerman grounds out to end the inning but the Nats pry four out of Flaherty.

4-0 Nats after three full . . .

The Nats Park p.a. plays Sade's "Smooth Operator" after Victor Robles backpedals effortlessly to catch a leadoff high liner in the top of the fourth . . .

Ozuna should have had that sliding catch...dropped right down out of the webbing.

He's also the guy who got caught in No-Man's Land between 2nd and 3rd.

The Redbirds threaten but don't score as Robles hauls down Molina's high liner at the track to end the threat.

4-0, Nats, middle fourth . . .

Trivia: Howie Kendrick now has five hits with men in scoring position this postseason. It's the most in Nats/Expos franchise history.

See?  His change-up makes it's appearance for the 'out-pitch'!    Six Ks....

The one thing I knew for damn sure going in was that Strasburg's changeup was going to get a very full night's work. And when it missed, it didn't miss the zone by much.
