    Mexico intercepts 2 trucks crowded with 243 migrants

    MEXICO CITY (AP) - Mexican authorities say they have intercepted two trucks carrying 243 migrants in crowded conditions in the southern state of Chiapas.
    A government statement says the vehicles were discovered in two separate incidents by federal authorities.

    The migrants were from Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, and 46 were minors.

    The Thursday night statement said the migrants showed signs of dehydration and were treated and delivered to the custody of the National Migration Institute.

I think @rangerrebew copied the OP from another discussion forum, probably one that uses vBulletin. I've explained several times before why this does not work: vBulletin truncates urls and inserts "..." in place of what the SW cuts out. Copying and pasting a post from such a forum results in a url in TBR OPs that CANNOT work.

These 243 people were fortunate.  Trailers like these have been found abandoned in the Desert Southwest, with all the occupants dead from suffocation.

Very fortunate. They were found in Chiapas State, which borders Guatemala. They probably didn't experience a great deal of suffering. The number, 243, has me wondering just how so many were packed in. 243 people standing in a packed crowd doesn't take enormous space, but with room to lie down?

Split between two trucks.  I imagine there were boxes or hay bales to sit on.  They would be as crowded as on a typical Boeing 737, with little to no room for laying down. :shrug:

The times I saw this in Southern AZ (South of I-8), the results were tragic, with bodies laying atop one another.  Those truck trailer don't have ventilation.
