Betraying allies is not a way to put an end to endless wars, but a way to ensure there will be more wars without end. (Cf. the British betrayal of the Arabs whom Lawrence rallied to the Allied cause in WWI, to back the House of Saud, which laid the foundation for most of the chaos in the Middle-East to this day.)
