Do veterans lack social-emotional skills? A major study finds that many civilian employers believe they do.

By: Diana Stancy Correll

Just based off their resumes and cover letters, veterans’ military service is working against them when they apply for jobs in certain fields, a new study says.

The study — conducted by Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and released Sept. 24 — found employers believe veterans are less suited for jobs that involve social-emotional skills and interacting with people than their non-veteran counterparts.

Veteran service organizations like American Legion, however, take issue with the study, saying it promotes the stereotype of veterans as brooding malcontents.

No. Most veterans never hear a shot fired after basic training/boot camp. They are truck drivers, mailmen, nurses, mechanics, clerks, etc, etc, etc.

None the less,it seems like most get treated as borderline psychos once they get discharged. The truth is they are no different or more dangerous than anyone who never served, but worked the same jobs.
Anyone who isn't paranoid in 2021 just isn't thinking clearly!

Zero to low tolerance for bullshit and zero tolerance for PC/SJW bullshit in the workplace is what works against most veterans.

If you tell it "succinctly", more often than not, it'll hurt you. You have to "frame" it using all of the current buzzwords.

I had a manager with no mil background write me up for "...walking a fine line between telling people what they needed to hear and being respectful in the workplace." To which I promptly replied "bullshit".
Throwing our allegiances to political parties in the long run gave away our liberty.
