BREAKING: Pentagon Girds Itself for Proposed Continuing Resolution

9/19/2019
By Jon Harper

The stop-gap funding measure expected to be approved by Congress before the end of the month would affect some defense contract awards, but the Pentagon will be able to manage the impacts as long as full-year appropriations bills are passed in the coming weeks, according to the department’s head of public affairs.

In August, President Donald Trump signed into law the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2019. The two-year fiscal deal increased defense spending caps for fiscal years 2020 and 2021 by approximately $90 billion and $81 billion — setting toplines of $738 billion and $740.5 billion, respectively.
