Both Democrats and Republicans are disingenuous on the Bidens and Ukraine

September 23, 2019 05:01 PM Democrats wrongly suggest there are no red flags in Hunter Biden's Ukraine business dealings. Republicans wrongly suggest that Vice President Joe Biden acted corruptly in 2016 when he pressured Ukraine to fire its top prosecutor.
Let's start with the Democrats.
Hunter Biden's 2014 appointment to the Burisma Holdings board of directors was smelly from the start. After all, Burisma's founder and dominant shareholder was Mykola Zlochevsky. In fine Ukrainian oligarch form, Zlochevsky was very close to the centers of corrupt political power. Between 2012-2014, he was a minister under then-President Viktor Yanukovych, a puppet of Russia's Vladimir Putin. Some January 2015 reporting from the Kyiv Post indicates that Zlochevsky used his ministerial office to grant unchallenged permits to his own business interests. Compensation aside, why did Hunter think joining Zlochevsky was ever a good idea?
