Documents show Pentagon spent at least $184,000 at Trump's Turnberry resort in Scotland
By Ellen Mitchell - 09/18/19 02:08 PM EDT

Documents show that the U.S. military has spent more than $184,000 at President Trump’s property in Scotland since August 2017, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee said in a letter to the Pentagon Wednesday.

Oversight Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and member Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) implored Defense Secretary Mark Esper for more information on Pentagon spending at Turnberry golf course, saying taxpayer funds paid for the equivalent of more than 650 rooms.

"The data provided by the Department now indicates that U.S. taxpayer funds have been used to pay for more than three dozen separate stays involving hundreds of nights of rooms - all after the president was sworn into office," the lawmakers write.

He also uses our Air Force One to fly him to rallies for the 2020 election.  Flying him around for rallies is not government business.  He just flew to California for a meeting with rich people to get money - got many millions.  He should personally pay for that from campaign money, just like other candidates do.  He has spent more government money than Obama.

If one reads far enough into the article, one will find:

The House investigation, which began in April, was reinvigorated after it was found that the Air Force sent crews to Turnberry up to 40 times since 2015, with some U.S. military stays stretching over multiple nights.

The refueling contract with that airport was signed 2015, over a year before Trump became President. While "The Hill"'s article notes that some airport personnel stayed at Turnberry before Trump became President, it did not state how many. "The Hill" also omitted other data relevant to this topic:

Air Force finds 6% of air crews stayed at Trump resort in Scotland

Quote
An Air Force review of overnight stays by its aircrews in Scotland found that 6% of the crews that overnighted during refueling stops at Prestwick Airport near Glasgow had stayed at the Trump family-owned Turnberry golf resort, according to an Air Force official.

The official said the overwhelming majority of overnight stays were in lodging accommodations close to the airport which has seen an increase in Air Force refueling stops since receiving an Air Force contract in 2015.
...
According to Air Force officials, a local contractor was unable to find closer lodging accommodations for the C-17 crew and found cheaper government rates at the Trump property.

The Trump property nightly rate of $136 was less expensive than the $161 charged by a nearby Marriott property.
Both of those rates were below the per diem rate of $166.

Note that the ABC News article I posted is 5 days older than that of "The Hill". IOW, the information not included in "The Hill"'s article was long available, "The Hill" just didn't mention it. It's called Lying by Omission.

I guess "The Hill" didn't want to spoil the Dems' narrative by publishing the facts that the Trump resort was sometimes the only one available, was less expensive than other nearby facilities, and that an insignificant percentage of USAF crews stayed at the Trump resort.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

He has spent more government money than Obama.

I would like to see that comparison if you have a link.

@Victoria33 has me on ignore … so would some good soul let her know that the Trump2020 campaign reimburses the government (for POTUS and all staff accompanying him on AF 1) the comparable airfare they would have paid had they traveled by commercial airline for all campaign trips --- just as the Obama campaign did, the Bush campaign before him, the Clinton campaign before him, the other Bush campaign before him ….. etcetera, etcetera.

Let her know there's no need to worry about this.  Thanks.    happy77

This is less money than Joe Biden charged the Secret Service in rent for the privilege of protecting Biden on his own property while he was VP.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-
