Oh, we've known it for many, many moons, but in the abstract and hypothetical.  What's happened today is the transfer from the abstract to the reality as we see an AG, who we thought was better than Sessions, actually dismiss an obvious valid referral for prosecution.  All doubt is removed.

It's no longer a hypothetical discussion.

Just saying Barr's punting on charging Comey is a development, and developments can focus the mind.  Does it matter who told whom so?

Logic.   If the DOJ won't even go after the perps for the little stuff, what makes us think they'll go after the perps for the bigger stuff?   I see no proof otherwise.  Do you?  And remember.... we've seen Obama, Holder, Clinton and others skate justice for the past THREE YEARS.

Trump: Comey 'thoroughly disgraced' after DOJ watchdog report

President Trump on Thursday said former FBI Director James Comey “should be ashamed of himself” after a Justice Department watchdog report faulted Comey for his handling of official memos about his interactions with Trump.

“Perhaps never in the history of our Country has someone been more thoroughly disgraced and excoriated than James Comey in the just released Inspector General’s Report. He should be ashamed of himself!” Trump tweeted.


The Justice Department inspector general report released earlier Thursday said Comey violated FBI policies and his employment agreement with his handling of memos he wrote detailing his interactions with Trump before being fired as FBI director.

The watchdog passed its findings to the Justice Department without making a recommendation on whether Comey should be prosecuted, but Attorney General William Barr declined to bring charges against Comey.

I have Comey's book where he writes the step-by-step actions taken in the Hillary investigation, documenting how decisions were made, what they were, etc.  So he has it on paper for Horowitz to use in his investigation of Comey's actions during that time.  Comey is stuck with what he wrote in the book, can't change that now.

I think DOJ did the right thing in not trying to prosecute Comey over the memo’s he drafted. It is a nuanced process crime and would be tough to present to a jury. Lying about the FISA warrant is completely different and more profound. Barr’s Department of Justice should prosecute Comey and others on that issue. If they do not, then the cause of justice in our Republic will be dead. It is that simple. Justice is supposed to be blind in terms of not having a preconceived conclusion about guilt or innocence. This also means that your status and wealth should not provide you protection against being held accountable for illegal acts. The jury remains out with respect to what Attorney General Barr will do. I still give him the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, it was the same decision, on a different set of facts.  I'm going to try to get a positive attitude about the things yet to come, but you have to understand why I'm a bit skeptical after years of watching Trey Gowdy talking about smoking guns found, and then nothing.

James Comey wants an apology? This is myth becoming madness

Two years ago, former FBI Director James Comey came out with a book celebrating himself as a paragon of “ethical leadership,” a subject that he later taught at the College of William and Mary. Comey declared, “Ethical leaders lead by seeing above the short term, above the urgent or the partisan, and with a higher loyalty to lasting values, most importantly the truth.”

If so, the new Justice Department inspector general report released Thursday establishes that Comey is the very antithesis of the ethical leader he described. He was found to have violated both federal law and regulations for his own short-term gain, and made decisions that put personal over institutional interests.

Nevertheless, Comey released a statement portraying the scathing report as a type of victory and encouraged his critics to send their apologies to him. It was a “Captain Queeg” moment when myth borders on madness. Rather than rave about who stole his strawberries, as Queeg did in “The Caine Mutiny,” Comey claims someone stole a reputation that he tossed away two years ago. The report states that Comey not only knowingly violated rules governing all FBI employees, but his self-serving decisions “set a dangerous example for the over 35,000 current FBI employees.”

I agree with Hannity.

By the time the conventions are over and the leaves are falling, ...all these apparent 'crimes' gone unpunished, will be connected with much more serious conspiracies.  Comey will end up hanging himself. 

Of course, the government is going to prosecute him.  For the sake of public confidence in our system of laws, this pompous MFing, SOB  needs to swing.
