Philly Mayor Calls For Gun Control For Officer Protection — An International Police Union Director Disagrees

Democratic Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney called for gun control within hours of a prolonged active shooter situation, which left several uniformed police officers injured Wednesday.

A gunman opened fire on officers attempting to execute a drug warrant. An hours-long standoff ensued while two officers remained trapped in a building, officials said. Gunfire wounded six cops.

“Our officers need help. They need help with gun control,” Kenney said Wednesday during a press conference. “They need help with keeping these weapons out of these people’s hands.”

Police Commissioner Richard Ross Jr. identified 36-year-old Maurice Hill as the suspect.

Well he got one thing right.   The Philly officers do, indeed, need help.   They need the help that only a non-Democrat mayor can give them re: siding with and protecting the officers vs. the criminals.  I don't see that help coming, however.   

The ssdd dishonesty of this Democrat mayor is part of the problem.   Gun control is not the solution.   Criminals will always have guns, even if or when the Democrats manage to disarm law-abiding citizens.  Keeping people with that same Democrat mentality out of government positions might 'help'.
