Texan Beto O’Rourke joined nine other Democrats on stage in Detroit on Tuesday for the second round of debates in the Democratic presidential primary contest.

All of the candidates made questionable statements — take a look at some fact-checking from the night — including O’Rourke, who was asked to respond to a comment about gun violence from Montana Gov. Steve Bullock.

Bullock said that Washington, D.C., "is captured by dark money" and political influence from the likes of the NRA and Koch Industries, making it hard for lawmakers to tackle issues like gun safety...

Venezuela has a problem.
All of the countries are in the Western hemisphere and all are Latin American except us.

And again, from what I read, well over half of ours are from suicides.

@Sanguine IIRC if you remove three or four cities from the United States total we as a country drop to like 35th on that list.

Heck! Just take Chicago and Philidelphia out and see what happens.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

I think the cities they took out were NYC, Chicago and LA and we went from #2 down to #35

Add Philly and Baltimore to that list and we wouldn't even register!

If you go by state, #1 is Alaska, but 80% of the firearm deaths are suicide. Next is Louisiana.

That, and Alaska's such a tiny state population-wise that one single incident skews the results.

Lots of good fact reporting.

I never understood talking about firearm death only when discussing homicides.  Are people attacked with hammers, knives or Buicks any less dead?
