Though I'll miss Marrianne, the fireworks in this one should be even better.  Bite me is on a (failed) mission.

What to Watch For in Tonight’s Democratic Debate

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/31/us/politics/2020-debate-time-schedule.html

Various excerpts:

Quote
The 10 Democratic candidates will have 60-second opening statements followed by 60 seconds to answer questions from the CNN moderators, Dana Bash, Don Lemon and Jake Tapper. Each candidate will also have a 60-second closing statement.

Quote
Biden vs. Harris, the rematch.

The most dramatic moment of the first pair of presidential debates came as Senator Kamala Harris of California criticized Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s record on race and busing, leaving the former vice president and early front-runner struggling to respond forcefully.

Since then, however, Mr. Biden has been much more willing to aggressively defend his record and to draw contrasts with his opponents. He has clashed directly with Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey on the issue of policing, and with Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont on the subject of health care.

Mr. Biden supports creating a so-called public option and building on the Affordable Care Act, while Mr. Sanders and others including Ms. Harris want a more sweeping proposal that would provide Medicare for all Americans, though in a new plan unveiled this week Ms. Harris indicated that she still sees a role for private insurers, in contrast to Mr. Sanders. Mr. Biden’s campaign was quick with criticism of her plan, and the former vice president has made some oblique swipes at Ms. Harris’s health care position as well. Will he sharpen that argument?

Mr. Biden’s allies say he was personally hurt by the ferocity of Ms. Harris’s criticism in their last debate, given her relationship as California attorney general with Mr. Biden’s late son, Beau Biden, then the attorney general of Delaware. Some of his allies say privately that the moment was a wake-up call for him and expect him to be much more assertive on Wednesday.

“I’m not going to be as polite this time,” he said last week at a fund-raiser.

Their dynamic will be among the most closely-watched of the second debate.

I'm looking forward to Slow Joe trying to recall the jabs at Kamaltoe that his handlers wrote for him. I'll be watching for Kamaltoe to interrupt with her well-rehearsed one-liners. What will Spartacus do to get attention? :pondering:

He better start kissing up to Biden.... cause he doesn't stand a chance as anything but a token VP on a Biden ticket.

Five things to watch as Biden, Harris, Booker take stage

By Niall Stanage and Max Greenwood - 07/31/19 01:00 PM EDT
What are the main points to look out for?

How will Biden perform?

Another weak performance from the former vice president could spark full-blown panic among his supporters.

The problem in the Miami debate was not just that Harris hit Biden on the substantive issue of his opposition to federally-mandated busing.

It was that Biden’s response was ineffective and flat. This, in turn, raised concerns about his age — he is 76 — and undermined his central argument that he is the strongest candidate to take on President Trump in November 2020.

Biden has rebounded in some opinion polls — a Quinnipiac University Poll survey released on Monday showed him leading by more than 2 to 1 over his nearest challenger, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.). There is clearly a sizable reservoir of goodwill toward him among Democratic voters.

But if he were to get caught flat-footed again, by Harris or anyone else, he could be in serious trouble.

Oppo research reveals Kamaltoe accepted a $5000 donation in 2011 from the racist Donald J. Trump. Wonder if Slow Joe will address this?

Well, we can't use the word racist.   We'd all be passed out in the first hour.

You should watch.  You could learn a lot.  If nothing else you can put a face with the names of the candidates.  I learned a lot in last nite's debate.  JS...

The old guy with the gun is hilarious.

And half of the idiots onstage obviously have no clue where their heart actually is.
