Coalition of the willing?  :pondering:

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - France, Italy and Denmark gave initial support for a British plan for a European-led naval mission to ensure safe shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, proposed after Iran’s seizure of a British-flagged tanker, three senior EU diplomats said on Tuesday.

The cautious backing at a meeting of EU envoys in Brussels contrasts sharply with the lukewarm response shown by European allies to a similar American call first voiced at NATO in late June, when countries feared they could make U.S.-Iranian tensions worse.

“Britain’s request, rather than Washington’s, makes it easier for Europeans to rally round this,” one senior EU diplomat said. “Freedom of navigation is essential, this is separate from the U.S. campaign of maximum pressure on Iran.”

Seems like Asia is the area that should be putting together this patrol.

Britain is revving up a European military response to Iran

Escalating against Iran, Britain's foreign secretary on Monday announced that Britain will establish "a European-led maritime protection mission to support safe passage" of tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

This follows Iran's seizure of a British tanker on Friday. As I noted, that Iranian aggression was likely to backfire with just this kind of U.K. escalation.

While Britain, France, and Germany oppose the Trump administration's maximum pressure sanctions campaign on Iran, they cannot permit Iran's endangerment of critical global trade flows. Hunt says that discussions with other European powers about the formation of a task force have been "constructive." And if Britain, France, Germany, each deploy one warship, and one or two other nations do the same, the Europeans will introduce a potent force to the Persian Gulf.

The British political system is more than a little clunky and slow,but once they give the word to "go",their army is pretty damn good.

@Fishrrman

No matter what the Navy does,the army always has to come in on the ground and kick a little ass to restore order.
