Chinese technology company Hikvision manufactures cameras purchased by several US military installations; the 2019 National Defense Authorization Act bans the use of the technology starting in August.
Hikvision is 42% owned by the Chinese government, sparking concern about China's ability to view troop movements, operations and sensitive technology on US bases.
Hikvision said the ban "was not based on any evidence, review, or investigation of potential security risks."
