Warren pledges to create commission to investigate 'crimes committed by the United States against immigrants'
By Rachel Frazin - 07/13/19 06:17 PM EDT

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said Saturday that she will create a commission to investigate "crimes committed by the United States against immigrants" if she is elected president.

“On my first day, I will empower a commission in the Department of Justice to investigate crimes committed by the United States against immigrants,” she said at the progressive Netroots Nation conference.

Warren accused President Trump of looking the other way at abuse, but said she will not do so.

“To anyone out there who’s working in this system, understand you abuse immigrants, you physically abuse immigrants, you sexually abuse immigrants, you fail to get them medical care that they need, you break the law of the United States of America and Donald Trump may be willing to look the other way, but President Elizabeth Warren will not,” she said.

She also said that we need to treat those who come to the U.S. "with humanity and we need to follow the law."

As a student of history, and of political science specifically, this is a most disturbing proclamation from Warren.

The criminalization of political differences is frequently a precursor to the ruination of Republican governance...leading inevitably to tyranny, reprisals and internicine and interminable bloodshed.

We have powerful analogies in the radical rule and actions of the French Republic under Robespierre...the rise of demogogic strong men (Marius, Sulla, Julius and Octavian Caesar) to restore order as the Roman Republic collapsed...the bloody failure of the English Commonwealth and Protectorate (under Cromwell).

The criminalization of political opponents, in this context, has historically gone hand in hand with social demagoguery...sadly, modern versions of the "bread dole" and "remittances of debt" that wrought economic ruin on past Republics are all the rage within the Democratic party of today. All the key ingredients needed to crash our Republic are now close at hand...and wielded by those with ill intent and a disdain for popular rule.

I fear we may be racing headlong towards re-education camps, political ostracization, criminalization of those holding unpopular viewpoints, and an environment in which it is OK to condemn people for who they are rather than for what they do...for example...white males over 50 are now, by their very nature, considered guilty of patriarchy, sexism, racism and of general oppression.

For the first time in my life, I'm afraid our Republic may fall. And its fall will not be gentle. Rather, it will leave a trail of blood and oppression that will shape a dark future for the United States. I have 3 daughters just starting their adult lives, and I fear they will live in a society that is no longer free, no longer fair, and no longer just.

If that witch ever becomes president you can kiss what little that remains of this once great republic goodbye forever.

Read this "we have to let them in and we have to enforce the border". A very efficient pander.

Mesaclone observes (with considerable wisdom):

Once again, I would like to present Fishrrman's "American Timeline".
Consider it carefully:
2019: USA -- United States of America
2027: USSA -- United Socialist States of America
2035: USSSA -- United Soviet Socialist States of America
2042:  ?????

Does this fall within the realm of possibility?

No, I think that these rats are guaranteeing a win for Trump.

Reparations for African  Americans.  Reparations for illegal immigrants too?  Some have already sued the government.  I hope people are not that stupid.

AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

I think the dates are spot on...but the libs won't change the "name" of the country. They will do as Octavian did upon assuming power...leaving all the forms of the Republic in place while supplanting all of the actual powers with what eventually became absolutism. In 2042, the nation will have the outer facade of Republicanism...and a fading memory of true freedom.

One of the tipoffs for the squashing of dissent are the calls for "unity", which the left commonly promises as something they'll achieve once in office.  It's the excuse Hitler used to suppress those who opposed him, and I have little doubt that the left will find its own way to silencing those who disagree with them.

It's funny - "dissent is patriotic" was what we herd when Bush was President.   But when Obama got elected, dissent suddenly became racist.  Now, they've upped the ante so that "Resistance" is patriotic.

I wonder how it's going to be the next time they control the government?
