Who Really Believes Biden Can Beat Trump?

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Barack Obama famously became so frustrated by his running mate’s logorrhea that he asked an aide, “How many times is Biden going to say something stupid?” According to authors Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, the VP’s stock had dropped so low by late 2011 that the Obama reelection team considered replacing Biden with Hillary Clinton on the 2012 ticket. And, as his busing blunder clearly demonstrated, Biden still has the old gift for gaffes. According to a new Washington Post-ABC poll, however, if the 2020 election were held today, Biden would beat President Trump by 10 points.

If this inspires skepticism, it won’t be ameliorated by the finding in the same survey that Trump’s approval rating is at the highest point of his presidency. The new poll found that 47 percent of registered voters say they approve of Trump compared to 42 percent in April. Meanwhile, Biden’s lead among the contenders for the Democratic presidential nomination is dwindling. According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, for example, Biden’s support has slipped from 30 to 22 percent. This is obviously the result of his flaccid response to the attack leveled on him by Kamala Harris during the June 27 Dem debate. Good Ole Joe just isn’t a brawler.

The former VP has since tried to regain the momentum he lost during that debate, but he has inevitably continued to indulge his affinity for imprudent remarks. He struck again during his recent CNN interview, when asked by Chris Cuomo if his health-care plan would include the reinstatement of Obamacare’s fine for failing to buy health insurance. Biden brayed, “Yes, I’d bring back the individual mandate.” This answer secures Biden a place in history alongside such political virtuosos as Walter Mondale, who promised to raise taxes during the 1984 election, and Hillary Clinton, whose 2016 strategy included insulting 30 million voters.

If someone's always mouthing off and just can't shut up, they've got logorrhea, a pathological inability to stop talking. Sounds better than "loudmouth."

As its sound suggests, logorrhea is related to diarrhea — an inability to stop something far more unpleasant from flowing. Diarrhea comes from two Greek words put together, dia meaning "through" and rhein meaning "to flow." In the case of logorrhea, the log prefix is from the Greek word for "words," meaning literally "words flowing through." I'm not expecting it, but it still falls within the "realm of possibility".

I believe Mr. Trump will win in 2020, but by only slightly higher margins than he did in 2016. It's STILL going to be close, no matter how you cut it. The democrat-communists have just made too many inroads into formerly-safe red states. And the "purple ones" -- like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin (which Trump will need to win) are still going to be nail-biters.

Consider that Mr. Trump won Texas in 2016... with 52%.
For a supposedly bright-red state, that ain't that big a win any way you cut it.

He'll win Texas in 2020, perhaps with a percentage point or two more, but Texas "is changing". Not so much for 2020, but by 2028 it's gonna be "the color purple" down there.

I've heard others mention that Mr. Trump may become the last Republican president. I would think more like... "next-to-last".

Anybody remember the line by Jim Morrison of the Doors:
"They got the guns but we got the numbers..."

Flip that around.
Our side has "the guns".
But with a million illegals flooding in every this year, perhaps more and more every year following, THEY will soon have "the numbers"...

I for one don't believe for a second that Biden is going to be the nominee.  It's way too early to tell by poll numbers, etc.  He's making some really stupid comments.  Secondly, he's an old DEM and he's surrounded by lots of new blood.

So, no, I don't think Biden can beat Trump.

I've stated this before;  I am more concerned about fraud and corruption beating President Trump in 2020.
