Nike Under Fire: ‘Betsy Ross’ Flag That Company Pulled Was Used at Obama’s Inauguration

Yet Colin Kaepernick apparently felt the design was 'offensive'

By The Political Insider Staff | July 3, 2019

The “Betsy Ross” American flag that Nike pulled because controversial spokesman Colin Kaepernick deemed it racist was featured prominently at the inauguration of this nation’s first black president, Barack Obama.

Nike went full social-justice warrior when it pulled an American flag-themed sneaker design for the Fourth of July holiday — all because its activist (and paid) spokesperson Colin Kaepernick complained the design was offensive.

Kaepernick, according to a Wall Street Journal report, “reached out to company officials saying that he and others felt the Betsy Ross flag is an offensive symbol because of its connection to an era of slavery.”

Yet Obama didn’t see it as being offensive, apparently.
