There have now been five national polls since the first Democratic presidential primary debate. Together, the surveys, conducted by ABC News/Washington Post, Quinnipiac, CNN, The Hill/Harris, and Politico/Morning Consult, show the debate has shaken up the race. The field has separated into three clearly definable tiers, all atop a large group at the bottom made up of candidates with virtually no support.

Within the first tier — Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, and Elizabeth Warren — the leaders' positions are rapidly shifting. Since the debate, only one of the four — Harris — is up, while Biden, Sanders, and Warren are down.

On the day of the debate, Biden stood at 32% in the RealClearPolitics average of polls. Now, he is down four points, to 28%. That is the biggest drop of anyone in the field.

The second-place Sanders has experienced a much smaller decline, from 16.9% to 16%. But he is still closer to Biden than before because of Biden's big drop.

It's a good thing that Harris is rising in the polls so early.  She's a master at the waffle -- taking ambiguous positions while mouthing platitudes, and then reversing herself if she ever does make a definitive statement that is controversial.

The more attention she gets, the more questions she'll have to answer, and the more likely it is she'll end up having to commit publicly on controversial issues.

Is she even a "Natural Born Citizen"?  Unlike Obozo, I hear NEITHER of her parents were citizens at time of her birth. So even if born in the US, she has all the rights, but is NOT natural born as required to be President.

I vote, "Clown Show."  The longer they're in the race, the more difficult it will be for any Rat candidate to extricate themselves from the socialist tar-baby.

I vote, "Clown Show."  The longer they're in the race, the more difficult it will be for any Rat candidate to extricate themselves from the socialist tar-baby.

I'll admit I've never watched an all-Dem debate, but it seems to me the more people you have on stage, the less substantive debate and the more desperate attempts at bumper sticker zingers you have.  If that turns off independents...

What reminded me of her was the "lying for exaggeration."  The Clintons do that, like the Bullets over Yugoslavia episode.  Brian Williams did that and got sacked.  Harris is doing that with the made-up story about being a little girl in the second class of integrated students, decades after the school was, in fact, integrated. 

There may be other categories for her stories but that one stuck out at me.

No U.S. law requires "parents (to be) citizens at time of her birth" in order to claim the title of natural born citizen, a term that has never been legally defined despite the efforts of birthers, xenophobes and conspiracy theorists who make up false definitions and seem to conveniently only apply it to people who they don't like. If their claims were true, Charles Curtis, whose mother was a Native American and thus not a U.S. citizen and was born on a reservation before the 14th Amendment, would have never been allowed to take the oath of office as Vice President.

Absent any legal definition, we must take the plain language. Natural (i.e., automatically bestowed), born (i.e. at birth) citizen. She was lawfully born here to persons lawfully present here, which grants her the rights of the 14th Amendment.
