 O'Rourke to visit Mexico, meet turned away US asylum-seekers

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke is heading to Mexico to meet with immigrants seeking U.S. asylum but "turned away."

In his first international trip as a White House hopeful, the former congressman will visit Ciudad Juarez, across the Rio Grande from his native El Paso, Texas, on Sunday to view what he calls "the desperate circumstances" some are fleeing.

O'Rourke says he'll also see the conditions they endure while waiting because of the Trump administration's "Remain in Mexico" program, part of a deal to avert the White House's threatened tariffs.

O'Rourke plans a rally Sunday outside the Border Patrol facility in nearby Clint, Texas, where immigrant children have reported being denied access to soap and toothbrushes.

He previously visited centers holding immigrant children in Florida and Houston.

Of course he wants to meet with turned away asylum seekers.  Then you have Lindsey Graham wanting to hand our authority to screen asylum seekers over the United Nations in Mexico.

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Me too.  The lie is that liberals care about them.  They only care to bring them and give them the same thing they are used to.  Socialism.  No doubt that there is poverty in their countries.  And soon our country will be a mirror of what they say they are trying to escape.  What needs to be done is force those countries to reform.  No more asylum.  No more aid without solid changes that benefit their people and lead them in a direction of self reliance.
