Question For Bernie: What Happens To Those Who Don’t Want To Join Your Commune?
I & I Editorial Board

I&I Editorial

Much like Hillary Clinton feeling the need to reintroduce herself to voters multiple times, Bernie Sanders has decided to tell us again exactly what democratic socialism is. Maybe the need for so much explaining indicates that voters know what DemSoc is and want no part of it.

Sanders, the nominally Democratic but realistically socialist senator from Vermont, made a speech Wednesday that the AP declared was “a strong defense of democratic socialism, the economic philosophy that has guided his political career.” It was “his most aggressive attempt yet to reframe the conversation about his political views.”

The big question that never goes addressed regarding these and other “explanations” of socialism is: Why do the self-identified “democratic socialists” feel it’s OK to force those who’d rather be free into their collective?

The system Sanders wants to force on this country of ostensibly free people requires more coercion than that we are already under. Without force, both real and threatened, socialist systems cannot work. They require governments to take from some and give to others. Its subjects are obligated to participate.

National Review’s Kevin Williamson calls socialism “solidarity that is enforced at gunpoint, if necessary.”

History has already answered that question
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Easy. The supporters become the farmers, and the opponents the livestock.

In 1921 three years after the Bolsheviks took over Russia and instituted a communist economy (war communism), Lenin was forced to institute the New Economic Policy (NEP) to prevent the country from starving. Private traders were permitted and farmers allowed to work their own land. Just about all other sectors of the economy remained under state control.
In short order famine was averted and the country was fed.
But the commies couldn't stand any sort of private enterprise, and in 1928 Stalin forced collectivization and ultimate starvation of the Ukrainians in the thirties.
Do not doubt American commies would  try the same kind of measures.

"Question For Bernie: What Happens To Those Who Don’t Want To Join Your Commune?"

Recall, if you will, that Bernie was KICKED OUT of the commune he was in, for being too lazy.

And then there's this:

Chicago Tribune

A Chicago Tribune archival photo of a young man being arrested in 1963 at a South Side protest is Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders, his campaign has confirmed, bolstering the candidate's narrative about his civil rights activism.

The black-and-white photo shows a 21-year-old Sanders, then a University of Chicago student, being taken by Chicago police toward a police wagon. An acetate negative of the photo was found in the Tribune's archives, said Marianne Mather, a Chicago Tribune photo editor.

"Bernie identified it himself," said Tad Devine, a senior adviser to the campaign, adding that Sanders looked at a digital image of the photo. "He looked at it — he actually has his student ID from the University of Chicago in his wallet — and he said, 'Yes, that indeed is (me).'" Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont, was traveling Friday near Reno, Nev., on the eve of the state's Democratic presidential caucuses.

Sanders was arrested Aug. 12, 1963, and charged with resisting arrest. He was found guilty and fined $25, according to a Tribune story about the protests.

True example of communism rejecting communism:
I was employed at a college in charge of the Program for Handicapped Students.  I had a very good male friend who was in charge of all Counseling Programs and my department was under that that broad Counseling Program.

He and I had numerous conversations; he was comfortable discussing the college hierarchy.  Not long after I began working there, he explained the college was super liberal; the president and heads of departments were communistic thinkers.  He said they had meetings of their members to speak of equality for all.

He said at a meeting, they took a vote to pool all their paychecks and dole it out according to who needed it most in their members, going down the line of members to divide the money.  IT DID NOT PASS.  My friend was laughing as he told me that story.

They wanted equality for others, but not for them.  That is communism at its core - do it to others but not to me.

You forgot to mention that all that happened with a great deal of aid from the good ole USA thanks to the department of state, the NY Times, and slugs like Arrmand Hammer.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

That's why those systems fail.  The human drive for self interest and advancement and achievement is powerful

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Don't slight Kaiser Willhelm, who sent Lenin to Moscow to stir things up because the Russians were messing up his war effort. (Keep in mind the Czar was a cousin of the Kaiser, and the King of England, too).

It's all about the "love", baby....
