Rep. Ilhan Omar appeared to take the side of Hamas and Islamic Jihad last night after terrorists fired hundreds of rockets at civilian targets in Israel by Hamas this weekend.

“How many more protesters must be shot, rockets must be fired, and little kids must be killed until the endless cycle of violence ends? The status quo of occupation and humanitarian crisis in Gaza is unsustainable. Only real justice can bring about security and lasting peace,” the Minnesota Democrat said in a tweet Sunday night.

I heard the Dems were quietly recruiting a primary challenger.  She is too intersectional to be criticized publicly, but they will not allow her to sink them in 2020.

Israel pulled out of Gaza 14 years ago.  The only occupation going on there is by Hamas.

Roman Empire until the emergence of Byzantium around the 6th century.

This is true.  The Israeli settlements are gone and Israeli troops no longer patrol.  But it's not that simple.

Israel has maintained control of the Gaza Strip.  All phones and their numbers are registered with Israel (which is how in 2014 Israel was able to call occupants of buildings about to be bombed).  Israel controls fishing limits, 25% of Gaza's electricity needs and the flow of diesel fuel for the power plant in Gaza providing the rest.  The movement of humanitarian aid, including clean water and medical supplies, and all land, sea and air travel to and from Gaza are under Israeli control.
