Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) took aim at President Trump over his reported comments referring to "s---hole" companies in Africa and the Caribbean on Tuesday at a rally outside the U.S. Capitol.

Speaking alongside activist Angela Davis and other black progressives such as Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), Omar defended her birth country from the remarks Trump reportedly made last year during a meeting with senators on immigration reform.

"And I also, also happen to be a refugee and an immigrant from what they call one of the s---hole countries," Omar told the crowd, according to Facebook video. "The reality is, that s---hole country raised a very proud, dignified person."

"Our circumstances might not always be perfect," Omar continued. "But that doesn't lessen our humanity, and I am not in the business of defending mine."
