Do you 'F' with Telemarketers?
« on: April 15, 2019, 08:33:03 pm »
I ask this because I just took a call from Quebec, (Bored, Lonely, YES), her English was very good, we both Laughed profusely across our cultural divide.

PS: She spoke highly of our President as she tried to hawk her Canadian Pharmacy to me.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Is laying the phone down and seeing how long it takes for them to discover that there is no one on the other end F'n with them?
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

I chose 'lonely and bored' but it usually actually depends on what type of call it is. If it is a scammer from Bangladesh or a political pollster, I screw with them. If it is just some poor lady trying to sell insurance, I don't want to make her day any harder and apologize and asked to be put on the do not call list and hang up.

Like most people today, I tend to screen all my landline calls by caller ID, but that's not always useful due to masking and spoofing.

For the most part, I am polite but insistent in stopping their sales pitch at the moment I am certain I don't want or need what they are selling.

For charities, at least those I can identify as valid, I will listen longer.

For scammers, I am not at all hesitant to scam them back: "Good morning, FBI Northeast field office, Agent Mulder speaking, how can I help you?"

"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

I would love to get my hands on one of those old rotary phones.  Those things are indestructible.  Build a house out of them, and you could survive a direct nuclear blast.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

My friend in Houston just puts the phone next to the radio where Rush Limbaugh is pontificating.  I'd say that qualifies...lolol.

They aren't worth my time.  I'm never that bored.  When I get those calls on my cell, I just block them and report it to "MrNumber," the app I have.

Au Contraire!  I beat one to death once.  Now...payphones.  Those things are battleships.

Do you 'F' with Telemarketers?

It's been known to happen......

Most are recordings that I get now, so I just hang up.
As I got older, I politely say, "No, thank you" and hang up, even if I do cut them off in mid-ramble.
It dawned on me that some of those folks are just trying to make end meet.

Why waste both our time?  Hang up.

Haven't had a land line for quite some time and if I don't recognize the number I don't answer....usually the call will show up as "Scam Likely".
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.
