Pentagon awards nearly $1 billion in contracts to build barriers in places the U.S.-Mexico border was ALREADY fenced off – but Trump insists it's a 'new wall'
The Army Corps of Engineers has hired contractors to remove vehicle fencing and replace it with pedestrian fencing along two sections of the border
The contracts will place 46 miles of barrier near Columbus, New Mexico and 11 more miles of barrier in a Border Patrol sector centered on Yuma, Arizona
President Donald Trump in February declared a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border in a move to secure more money for his long-promised wall
The announcement of the new contracts is the latest sign that President Trump will move forward with his plans to deliver a wall by any available means
