I don't agree with this ... or at least not on the President's part.  The orchestration is on the liberal/socialist side.

I can't imagine the utter frustration the President must be feeling.  Coming from a position of authority in the private sector the inaction in Congress and the interference by the judiciary must be driving him straight up a wall.

I clearly hear your points and they are valid points, except for the fact that Trump waited till just before the new Congress was sworn in to act.  At that point in time, caravans were already on there way here.  Shutting the gov't down and feuding with Nancy was futile and he knew it.  IMHO, that was nothing more than stalling for time.  He declared a national emergency since then, he's threatened to shut down the border numerous times.  Here we sit.  Nothing is being done.  He keeps kicking the can down the road.  He has even been given ideas of how to get the $$ for the wall, yet he does nothing.

Any hope that I had the this President was sincere about border security and illegal immigration is gone.

The wall was nothing more than an issue to seat him in the oval office.  He's going to make a ton of money off of this border crisis ... if he doesn't,  I will be the first one to completely apologize profusely to you @Right_in_Virginia.

Representative Dan Crenshaw supports Trump and he's way better than Cruz, he's a Navy Seal and his campaign would never sink to the lows the Cruz campaign sank to with all of their dirty tricks.

Cruz lost the Bible belt because all of those people saw that matter with the Bible and Rubio.

Perhaps closing the border would result in an economic catastrophe.

But I prefer that to a humanitarian one. Which is what the flood of illegals represent.

Close the border of that will help solve this problem.

There is more than a humanitarian crisis at the border.  The crisis and the intent of the invasion is to gain liberal votes, making it mathematically impossible for the GOP to be seated again.  The other intent I believe is to create a North American Union.  One of Hillary's visions was to have a borderless Western Hemisphere.  I believe that is exactly where we are headed and it sure is beginning to look like this very well may  the doings of a Trump/Clinton tag team.  I absolutely hope that I am wrong.

Oh, come on @Right_in_Virginia, that's a low blow!  Trump is DOING NOTHING and I believe this has been his intent from the very beginning.  He keeps threatening, yet does nothing.  He promised a wall, yet waited till the GOP lost the House majority to do anything.  WHY?  You can't blame all of this on Congress.  At some point in time, you need to place some blame on the President himself.  He declared a national emergency  ... what the hell  is he doing????  NOTHING.

Of course I can and do blame this on Congress ... the fractured asinine NT wing of "our" party, those in the pockets of the Koch brothers, the liberal-socialists who are still placing fresh bits of cheese for the new rats to follow to the border and beyond.  Congress knows what needs to be done --- what laws need to be amended to protect us AND silence the interference of the judiciary.  But they will not do it.

Look at the effing mess in Washington.  Call it what you will.  Call it Congress, call it the swamp, call it the enemy of the people.  But together they've built THEIR wall, and it's around the President.

Donald Trump left a billionaire's paradise to get this done.  He's not playing games, he is damn serious.

It's too bad you think the President isn't doing what you want done quickly enough.  It would behoove you to step away from your emotions, think rationally and remember:  Without this one soul it would not be happening at all.

Texas will survive you Trumpers @Right_in_Virginia
I'm not so sure about your Virginia (the cradle of this great experiment), though.

Virginia's lost.  And Texas will follow.

Oh for the love of God @TomSea ... who cares if Crenshaw supports Trump.  Is he doing anything?  Is he proposing anything?  If so is Trump listening?  Bottom line we have a crisis at the border and NOTHING is being done.

I could care less why Cruz lost the Bible belt, that has absolutely nothing to do with the crisis at the border.

Yes, I'd like to hear what Cruz would now do ... not that Trump would listen, but I think he should voice his opinion.

Again .... I hear you loud and clear.  The question I am now asking however, is what is truly happening??  It's not a matter of getting things done quickly enough, it's a matter of getting things done at the border as we all had hoped.  We were all hopiong that he'd build a wall, and curtail illegal immigration as promised.  That isn't happening.  He's had numerous chances.  I don't believe that was ever truly his intent.  Yes, he left a billionaire's paradise, but IMHO not to get the wall built or illegal immigration under control, but to line his pockets even more.  He is a businessman.  Always has been.  I said from the get go ... to give one of the most wealthiest men in the world the keys to the kingdom is nuts.

It's too bad you think the President isn't doing what you want done quickly enough.  It would behoove you to step away from your emotions, think rationally and remember:  Without this one soul it would not be happening at all.

You are correct in many ways.  It is/was foolhardy to look at the Ryan House and believe or infer that they would have ever done Trump's bidding on any matter that they didn't want to see move forward.  And with "Republican" Senators like we have, thinking that the McConnell Senate would ever pass meaningful legislation for border security is also a fool's gambit.  Can anyone name more than a small handful of "Republican" Senators that want to see Trump's agenda implemented?  How many can you name in the House?

However, Trump's problem is that he has never figured out that the ways (methods, tactics) that he used to get his way in the private sector, and even to win the election, simply are not effective in his role now as President.

In his past, if he was involved with some sort of negotiation, it was not done out in the general public.  If he had to bluff, puff, and bluster, it was within a small set of other actors.  They either called the bluff and moved on, or somehow found a way to make a deal work for them.  For the most part, not many beyond that small cadre of actors really every heard all of the details of the process.

Now, he huffs and puffs on Twitter and in these press opportunities saying things that he has no intention of seeing through.  He is bluffing and threatening Mexico with the "close down the border" nonsense that he knows will never happen.  He would be better off picking up the damn phone and calling the leader of Mexico and making his threats privately.  He thinks that he is gain by ginning up his base with more "red meat" to get them stoked, however after being put through this cycle of listening to Trump bluff and bloviate, then up not following through, for months and months, a lot of people are just getting pissed off and burnt out with it all.

He needs to stop TALKING about crap that he is going to do, and just DO something.

We all thought he'd build a wall, and curtail illegal immigration.

LOL!  Did you think the President would be out there wearing a hardhat and carrying a shovel?  Just how did you envision this process unfolding @libertybele ?  Seriously, were you expecting a snap of his fingers or three clicks of a pair of Melania's red slippers?

Really, please tell me how you thought the process to build the wall was going to work.

That isn't happening.  He's had numerous chances.

And what do YOU think stopped him.  This is another serious question---what, in your opinion,  has stopped the President from having the wall built?

Cruz has had that El Chapo bill in the senate for a year or more. What's the hold up with that?

That kind of shows there might be more to the picture.

Trump putting on a hard hat and pounding nails and clicking Melani's red slippers ... really @Right_in_Virginia ??  I'm ashamed for you at your ridiculousness.  Trump had the opportunity to get things done when he had a FULL majority, yet he did NOTHING.  How can yo deny that?  He waited until just days before the new Congress was sworn in to push the issue.  How can you deny that?  He made threats ... yet caved to the left.  Why is it that you refuse to lay any blame or responsibility for what is going on at the border on this President?  He has the authority to act, yet does nothing  ... exactly what has Trump done at the border??  About the only thing that has done is sign a bad bill allowing states to opt out of a barrier.  He ordered the military to help process asylum applications.  He declared a national emergency.  He's threatened numerous times to shut down the border.   Yet nothing is being done.  Here we sit.

If he wasn't willing to put on a hard hat and pound a few nails, he shouldn't have promised a big beautiful wall to stop illegal immigration.  Bottom line.

Yes, he uses illegal immigrants in his own businesses.

Anyway, back to the original topic, I think Cruz is right. Hopefully, I said this earlier in the thread... over a billion dollars goes through the border daily... but otoh, I'm sure, it could be debated per pros and cons. I don't know for a fact, what is the best option.
