Air Force wants more Raptors at Langley

By HUGH LESSIG | Daily Press | Published: March 27, 2019

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Tribune News Service) — The Air Force has recommended Langley Air Force Base host an F-22 Raptor training squadron, which would bring up to 800 jobs to the region.

The final decision hinges on an environmental impact assessment and site survey, the Air Force said Tuesday. That could take up to four years.

The Air Force needs a new home for its F-22 flight and maintenance training squadron — essentially the F-22 school house — that was based at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida.
