The Illinois state attorney's office dropped charges against Jussie Smollett on Tuesday, according to a report by the Chicago Tribune.

Smollett had been arrested on disorderly conduct charges for allegedly staging a phony attack and claiming he was the victim of a hate crime.

CHICAGO - In a surprising move, all charges against "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett were dropped Tuesday.

TMZ reports the felony counts of lying to police over an alleged homophobic and racial attack were dropped during an emergency court session in Chicago.

Smollett will have to surrender his $10,000 bond and perform community service.

Smollett’s attorney was Mark Geragos, and so was Avenatti’s.

Problem is, Geragos was named as a co-conspirator in Avenatti’s arrest.

So, the ‘no charge’ against Smollett may have something to do with that.

I have never heard of a DA doing such a thing unless the defendant was giving them proof of more serious crimes committed by someone else,and that was a part of the plea deal.

I wonder who Smollett is ratting out? Given that  he is nobody important and most likely has no close ties to anyone who is important,chances are he is ratting out someone he knows higher up on the food chain that is selling drugs.

Good point, that should be a very serious charge too.
