Bolivia's Morales says Venezuela needs dialogue, not foreign meddling

ATHENS (Reuters) - Bolivia’s leftist President Evo Morales, a supporter of Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro, said on Friday that European nations should support a dialogue within the country.

Morales, who is on a visit to Greece, said meddling in the domestic affairs of another country never bodes well.

“History has taught that there have been many interventions from the outside, such as the case of Libya and Iraq, and they never offered a solution”, Morales said in translated comments after meeting Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

This is what Morales says and perhaps, Libya and Iraq did not turn out well. This with Venezuela is a much different situation and Marxists and Communists will point to these other situations.

Last night, apparently, in a soccer game in Bolivia, fans were out with the Venezuelan flag and signs saying "resist Venezuela".

There may be an opportunity here for some one on the Continent to step forward as a leading figure and help resolve this mess, but most of those countries (perhaps quite wisely) seem to be resisting direct meddling in Venezuela's affairs. Unless they ask for our help, we should stand aside and wait.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Does that mean Bolivia is going to butt out and stop helping the Communists?  They have not been helping.
