John Kasich to fellow GOPers: Stop denying climate change
« on: February 26, 2019, 10:01:33 pm »
AXIOS by Amy Harder 2/26/2019

Republicans should stop denying humans’ impact on climate change and start putting forth policies to address it, former Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich is set to say at a speech Tuesday night in British Columbia, Canada.

Why it matters: Kasich is a potential 2020 opponent of President Trump — and he represents the leading edge of a Republican Party slowly evolving away from a decade-long position denying that climate change is a real problem. Kasich revealed his plan for his speech in an exclusive interview with Axios Monday.

“This is like a call to arms. Let’s have conservatives have a discussion instead of being in denial that this is a problem. You can’t just be a science denier.”

— John Kasich, former Ohio governor

Flashback: Kasich himself has evolved from when he was running in the 2016 GOP presidential primary. He said then that the overall human impact on climate change is unclear and that “we don’t want to destroy people’s job, based on some theory that is not proven.”

When presented with those comments, Kasich responded: “Yeah, well you know what, we all evolve.” He went on to cite a federal government report, issued under the Trump administration, that laid out humans’ impact on climate change and the impacts of it. “As I see more and more evidence, especially from our government and scientists, you learn more. Let’s step it up.”

He said his evolution on climate change is similar to that of his shifted position on guns after the Parkland shooting.

Why doesn't Kasich quit pretending, and go ahead and change is affilliation to "D"?

Kasich is a liberal CNN political commentator and really no longer relevant to the GOP.  Not in the least.

Prove that humans are having an effect, first.
More importantly, prove there is a solution to the alleged "problem" that won't send the entire society of Planet Earth back to the Stone Age.

There are plenty of dingalings and opportunists who repeat this kind of crap but from this idiot it seems much harder to take.

Maybe thats because I remember the days he was trying to shove his nose up Reagan's backside. What a complete fraud.

Here it goes again - Fake headlines that have no bearing with the article.

The quote by Kasich is not what the headline proclaims.

Kasich never said anybody is denying climate change.

He said people in the GOP were denying it was a problem.

That is a fundamental difference and really bad sordid journalism to create a misleading headline.

He's the son of a mailman, did you know that?  He delivers, but to the wrong house.  Like my Amazon packages shipped by USPS.  A small thing I miss about living in the 'burbs...AMZL delivery.  I got stuff same day all the time there.

But, John, we don't want to destroy people's jobs based on some theory that isn't proven.   Why is it now okay to destroy peoples' jobs?

Anthropogenic climate change debate is interesting when looked purely from a scientific perspective. The problem comes when it enters into the political arena. All these lawmakers who think that they can pass  legislation to stop something that’s a natural occurrence for the earth already when they can’t even balance budgets

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Yes, they do not even try to balance the budget.  Neither Democrats or Republicans.

Kasich is the GOP's clown.  He is a total fraud.  And the funny thing, I could not wait for him to run in 2016.  I always liked him when he was a US Representative.  But he has evolved all right.  He is a fruitloop just like all the Democommies running around.

I suppose I would consider climate change if the leading nations polluting this planet participated in ending the carbon emissions, which they don,t, i.e. China and India.  And I would consider it real if beach front owners were forced to surrender their property due to encroaching higher levels of water, but I do not see that happening either.

Kasich is a pimple on the *ss end of life.  He is about as relevant a politician as a pimple.
