Unfortunately, knowing a lot of liberals and what they are thinking, they are citing the two prior impeachments in our history as precedent. I used to think as well the bar was very high, but historically, it is actually quite low and mostly about the will to act.
Bill Clinton was impeached over lying to a grand jury over an issue that had nothing to do with the original investigation (he wasn't impeached or even charged with anything to do with Whitewater).
Andrew Johnson was impeached for 'disrespecting Congress' and firing people in the War Department when Congress disagreed with him.
We've discussed this a lot here, but I wouldn't blow off their finding any sort of process crime to start the ball rolling.
