Geez, @Emjay your painting with a broad brush there.  I don't see the 'Hate Trump' here in the magnitude that you do.  Sure there are a few, but most, like me, that dislike the Man for various reasons, are not interested in destroying his Presidency (Pence is worse).  We are merely stating our opinions as people tend to do on Political Forums.  For you to assume we are just 'whiners and haters' is a mischaracterization of what we, as individuals, have come to believe in our Life experiences.
Ted Cruz is a Politician NOW and though I believe him to still have the best interest of Texas and her inhabitants in his heart, he realized that boarding the Trump Train was in his best interest and who am I to question that.
Have as much patience with me and others here as we do with you.

@Sanguine   You could not be more right.  I wish I hadn't read it, but I came on it unexpectedly when I first got up.

Whatever they say, it all boils down to a kind of two-year old petulance because Trump took their cookies or something.  The man who came the closest to winning, Ted Cruz, immediately manned up and has supported the President and his good programs.

I'm getting less and less tolerant of those people and I think they are ruining this forum

Fortunately, there are some excellent people left, but the idiots and whiners just love to type out their hate.

I feel confident I know who Trump is – not the media caricature of him that the NeverTrumpers cling to – but the man he really is. I like that man; his fighting spirit, his tenacity, his boldness. No one can move me off supporting him by citing unsourced media reports. We know they are overwhelmingly biased and agenda driven because 90% of reporters are registered democrats. That’s a fact. We can’t expect truthful reporting from them.

So with each new attack I basically ignore the breathless doom and gloom Left wingers and the NeverTrump critics’ quick rush to judgment here.

@Emjay, they don't think they're running the forum; they* respond they way they do because they are very fearful and that comes out as anger.  But, every once in a while they are correct and on that can be valuable.

* not all, just some.

I agree, it isn't so bad.  There a couple of AT kooks, a couple of NT kooks, and a couple of pure trolls.  It is pretty easy to just scroll by their posts and chuckle a bit.

The vast majority of folks will give credit to Trump when it is due, and offer criticism when it is warranted.  My only complaint (and that is just my personal preference) is that it doesn't seem that many are willing to just watch how things play out....  wait until the actual decisions are made, laws are voted upon and signed off, etc., before carrying on like the world has ended (or nirvana has been reached).

This is especially hard because Trump is constantly out there, Tweeting stuff, making off-hand comments to the press, etc.  At this point in time I can see that a lot of what he does is trolling...  he delights in getting people all worked up...  I think that he laughs about it almost every day.

If you missed the last 20 posts on this thread, I'd say you made out fine.

I slept late, opted for Yogi tea vs. strong coffee... and I'm still not awake yet!  So yeah... I missed a lot.

@corbe   I was gone but then you posted to me.  Ever since you accused me of being mean to fellow posters, and that after you saw for yourself that I was brutally attacked for telling the truth, I've kinda lost faith in your opinions.

Ted Cruz is a statesman.  He did the right thing for the country.  That you can call him a politician in a derisive tone is just plain sad.

I just wish all the Trump haters could bring themselves to do what Ted Cruz did; that is, put the country before self.  However, they are caught up in their own bitter thoughts they think are brilliant.

Right now, I'm not in a tolerant mood.  Catch me later.

And, by the way, I have exactly as much patience for NTers as they have for me.

Just for my own information, and since I’ve been posting on this thread, do you include me in that group?

No.  You are rational.

Ted Cruz is a statesman?  Not in my book.  A statesman has character, and I do not call what he did to Ben Carson in the Iowa caucus actions of a statesman.  Granted, he is conservative.  But Donald Trump called him Lying Ted, and while Trump is a bit caustic to those that irritate him, I think he nailed Cruz perfectly.

And he did not jump on the Trump train right away.  He was a genuine sh*t at the GOP Convention in 2016, refusing to recognize Trump as the victor of a hard fought race.  He wasn't quite as bad as John Kasich, but I was not impressed by his behavior.

Texas is going from red to perhaps a blue state one day.  Cruz will find it harder to retain his seat with each election in the future.

@jafo2010

“A bit caustic”— well, if that’s the term you want to use for smearing the appearance of a man’s wife, then I guess so.

Anyway, the lie that Cruz tried to damage the Carson campaign was put to rest long ago as just that.  It’s pure BS.

At the time I got a kick out of his refusal to endorse Trump at the convention.  Remember, he’d just recently gone on a monologue about Trump’s character, so I wouldn’t have expected a 180 so quickly.   But I’m under no illusions—there’s been a lot of time and water under the bridge, and Ted knew he had to back Trump to survive.  They’re all politicians in the end, but Cruz is one of the best we have.  And infinitely better than Kasich.

Cruz' big crime at the Convention was he said "vote your conscience."  Whenever I see Trump supporters trashing him for that it raises the question:  Why do you think "vote your conscience" equals "don't vote for Trump?"  It's a rather stunning admission to say that a person of good conscience would not vote for Trump.

Ted Cruz is a statesman?  Not in my book.  A statesman has character, and I do not call what he did to Ben Carson in the Iowa caucus actions of a statesman.

What did Ted Cruz do to Ben Carson?

But Donald Trump called him Lying Ted, and while Trump is a bit caustic to those that irritate him, I think he nailed Cruz perfectly.

What did Ted Cruz lie about?  I've waited 3 years for an answer to that question.  Can you help answer it?

He was a genuine sh*t at the GOP Convention in 2016, refusing to recognize Trump as the victor of a hard fought race.

Nonsense.  Here is the third sentence of his speech:

"I want to congratulate Donald Trump on winning the nomination last night."

The bulk of his speech was about standing up against the Establishment and holding fast to Conservative ideals - something for which the Establishment delegates, Trump's delegates, loudly booed and jeered.  Maybe if Trump had picked his own delegates instead of letting Priebus do it, the speech would have been better received.

You would think that after three years, the lies about Ted Cruz would be put to rest.  But no.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

-Ayn Rand-

Good catch and excellent point.   One wonders, indeed.... if that is what they are thinking.  Just another disconnect that I/we have observed from that faction.

Good for you.  I might respect it more if it contained any facts, but it's mostly just nitpicking and whining.  I don't think it stimulates good discussion.  It just makes people really mad at each other and, in the current political climate, we should reserve most of our inchoate rage for the democrats.

I will say it again.

What is it that Tumpy has done that we get to keep?

Not executive orders and red meat for his fans...

What do we truly get to keep when he is done?

Damn little good. And a whole lot of debt.
There's your measure of whether to vote for him again.
