ASHINGTON, DC – The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted review in the first Second Amendment case in almost a decade, a case supported by the National Rifle Association (NRA), and perhaps signaling what to expect from the new membership of the Supreme Court.

New York law forbids residents from owning any handguns without a permit, and that permit allows the holder to possess guns only in their home or en route to or from one of seven shooting ranges in the city. A gun owner cannot transport a firearm outside the home for any other purpose, even if it is unloaded and locked in a case in the trunk of a car.

The New York State Rifle & Pistol Association and several of its members sued in federal court, arguing that this statute is unconstitutional.

This will be an interesting case to follow and maybe define how the new court will be ruling.

This should be a slam dunk ruling by the Court.  With Ginsburg now deceased I predict a 4-4 verdict.

Chief Justice Roberts has gone overboard and is allowing her to vote from home.  Meaning no one REALLY knows who is doing the voting.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

This still surprises me that she can vote from home.  Sitting senators can't vote from home and I had automatically assumed a justice wouldn't be able to either.

I cannot find any information about Justice Roberts ruling that Ginsberg can vote from home and I looked.  Can you verify that?

Saw the story several days ago and can't find it now.

Well, it may be true but I did a search and couldn't find it.  Roberts has been a big disappointment, of course, but it's strange that he would allow this.

Ginsburg can stay on the Supreme Court and vote, no matter how sick or disabled she becomes

Quote
With Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg continuing to recover from cancer surgery, whispers about whether she should step down have grown louder. But as a member of the Supreme Court with life tenure, Ginsburg can remain on the bench for as long as she desires, no matter how sick she becomes.

Though she was not present for oral arguments, Chief Justice John Roberts said Ginsburg would participate in the cases by reading briefs and argument transcripts.

In addition to reviewing relevant case material from home, Ginsburg has also voted in matters before the court. There is no written rule prohibiting justices who are missing from the bench from casting their votes.

Rehnquist, like Ginsburg, also worked from his home while recovering in October 2004 from a tracheotomy in connection with his cancer diagnosis.

Why not? Millions of dead people vote for the Dems every election.

How are we supposed to know if she is or not?  She's been unconscious the last several times she was seen in public. :tongue2:

This should be a slam dunk ruling by the Court.  With Ginsburg now deceased I predict a 4-4 verdict.

All lower Courts have refused to hear the case, so a 4-4 will mean the law stands in favor of NY and against gun owners.

@Elderberry

I suspect this has something to with Hillary's spirit cooking and Pelosi is channeling RBG.

Seems to be where they pull most Lib rulings from anyway.
My 'Viking Hunter' High Adventure Alternate History Series is FREE, ALL 3 volumes, at most ebook retailers including Ibooks, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and more.

In Vol 2 the weapons come out in a winner take all war on two fronts.

Vol 3 opens with the rigged murder trial of the villain in a Viking Court under Viking law to set the stage for the hero's own murder trial.
