Thanks ATJ, I started the thread, but bow to those that know the era much better than I could ever dream to know it. Post a song, I learn for your knowledge and benefit from it more than you know.
I have felt pretty good the last couple of months... so I am not here as much as I previously was... when I feel good I am working in the yard and doing projects that needed done a long time ago. My hands have toughened up, I feel like a man once more. Thank you Jesus.
@Sighlass Born in the late 40s, I'm experientially familiar with the songs of the 50s. Since I like music so much, I made sure to reach back and become at least somewhat familiar with classics from the 30s and 40s. My enthusiasm for new music waned when rock music (screechy, angry, violent, rebellious) became so prevalent. When YouTube came into my life, I was able to bypass all the music I didn't like and find songs I hadn't heard for years. I have a LOT of vinyl that encompasses several genres and spans 40 decades, but it's so much easier to just go to YouTube. I love doo-wop/sock-hop, classic country, R&B, Gaithers, contemporary Christian from the 80s, show tunes, and
all Glen Campbell performances . I've been known to sit down for "just a few minutes" to listen to a little music and end up staying for 2, 3 up to 4 hours.
I'm glad you are feeling well, although I didn't know you hadn't been. (My attendance on TBR is spotty, so I don't know all the players.) Congratulations on getting projects done. That has to feel good! Thank You, Jesus, indeed.
