@the_doc I am quite the optimist in all aspects of my life, my Family and my Friends would all attest to that, except when it comes to Politics, in general and Trump in specific (lately).
I strive to aim my arrows (misguided or not) at Trump, not his supporters (unless thoroughly provoked, which you just witnessed with that RiV woman).
It's all good, I believe in my heart of hearts that more people like me here than hate me (of course, I could be wrong).

The country is not sliding further into an abyss.  It may seem like that to you because you're swimming with the enemy.

It's high time everybody on this forum step up and get off the TDS.  You're all addicted.  From the head down.

You've got two years' resume upon which to judge his effectiveness in advancing free-market capitalism and a hopefully Conservative agenda...which was his sole intent.

Stop all this virtue signaling.  It's been two years he's been POTUS with a 97% negative/adversarial media and backstabber in the intelligence agencies trying to nullify the election.  In addition, he has the GOPe on his flank.

Judge the frigging guy like you judge any other politician.   On RESULTS.

Screw his character.  So he lies.   So did every other POTUS.  George Washington's cherry tree be damned.

If you would get off the character of the man and focus on his governing policies, we'd have a much better forum discussion board, IMO.

But I know that you may as well talk to a wall, before trying to change minds around here.

At the end of the day, them majority of us want the same thing.  The dang wall built.  Trump is who we have to accomplish that agenda.  I have faulted him for his delayed action on this issue and creating a media circus. I question some of his actions, motives and intents. But he is our last chance.  You don't have to like his character, his demeanor, his tweets, or his narcissistic personality, but if he doesn't succeed, this country is sunk.  It's curtains for our Republic and socialism will be on the horizon and we'll be just like France or Germany.

I'm afraid the pathos here doesn't allow up to come together with optimism.

Not when I'm checking in at lunch and the only threads of interest are those meant to criticize and demean the man or the administration.

Then when you click on them...well, you get the picture.

Senator Gardner needs to acknowledge the trouble that he has in his own state concerning Mexican drug cartel.

AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

I, for one, would never want to silence you:  I just don't think you have figured out Trump as well as I have, my friend.  (I am tracking things that you probably aren't watching at all.  We'll just have to wait and see what God plans for us--through the strange guy He ordained to be our Republican nominee [over both your strenuous objection and mine!] and thence to be our POTUS.)

I'm very optimistic;  you're not.  That's the best secular explanation of the spiritual gulf between us.

Amen @the_doc   That is so true.  Sometimes reading all the negative posts here just wears me out.  I do think that Trump is the right man for the current climate.  Not the perfect man, but the right man.

It depresses me that you're unhappy with the divisiveness here on TBR and especially your disdain at thehill.com (which I post from frequently) articles @DCPatriot after all it is a Political Forum and not an echo chamber like FR and Brietbart and the like.

I've seen 2 years of this clown show and even though your hated MSM would have given President Cruz as much if not more grief, IMHO he would have accomplished much more than your hero, and THAT is what this is all about.

You Trumpers made a choice and it's screwed up as WE told you it would be and you blame us, not Pelosi, not schumer, not Ryan and certainly not McConnell but US, NT'er's  so spare me your sanctimonious BS, I am not the problem, if anything you are, you voted for him and continue to carry the pom-poms no matter what he does.

@DCPatriot   Actually, I agree with you.  Most of the NTers only post negativity and never focus on the positive aspects of this presidency.

It is depressing and I wish they would have a happy day once in a while.

But I guess it's their hobby and if it makes them feel good, I guess it's worth making me feel bad.

I'm so optimistic that I enjoy reading the negative posts.  (I must sheepishly confess that I laugh at a lot of them.  A lot of TBR members are going to get the shock of their lives in 2019--unpleasant at first, but resolving to a sort of chilling excitement.  [I thought it would have happened sooner, but Trump has had a lot on his plate.])

Coloradans Pay Millions Annually To Jail Illegal Immigrants

May 17, 2017 at 11:55 pm

By Brian Maass and Mark Ackerman

DENVER (CBS4) – Colorado taxpayers paid more than $522 million to imprison illegal immigrants convicted of crimes over the past 20 years, according to a CBS4 investigation.

https://denver.cbslocal.com/2017/05/17/colorado-prison-illegal-immigrants/

Interesting video.  Sen Kent Lambert talks about the issue.  But hey, stick it to the taxpayer right?
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

The country is not sliding further into an abyss.  It may seem like that to you because you're swimming with the enemy.

Adding another $1 trillion to our national debt while at the same time releasing illegals into this country on their own recognisance while awaiting asylum hearings is indeed sliding into an abyss.  As for swimming with the enemy, I can attest that Corbe has never had his picture taken with the Clintons, donated money to Chuck Schumer's political campaigns, placed bans on bump stocks, hired the head of the GOP-E as chief-of-staff, or campaigned to the left of Bernie Sanders on property rights.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

-Ayn Rand-

You obviously didn't read his platform Frank (The one that Trump stole).

We don't have 7-11's. We have Wawa. It is also illegal to wear cowboy boots in Pennsyltucky. Only camo from October to June.
