Hillary Couldn't Buy the Presidency for $600 Million, Bloomberg Won't for $100 Million
December 27, 2018
Daniel Greenfield

Hillary Clinton couldn't buy the White House for $600 million. What makes Bloomberg think he can buy it for a partly $100 million?

Billionaire Mike Bloomberg is prepared to spend well over the $100 million he put into his last campaign for New York City mayor if he runs for president in 2020. And he does not plan to accept any outside money from political action committees if he jumps into the race, CNBC has learned.

Howard Wolfson, Bloomberg’s top political advisor, in an email hinted at how much his boss would look to invest into his own potential campaign for president.

What a joke - he'd be lucky to win his first primary before he blows through that $100M. De Blasio would have a better chance of winning de nomination...

Michael Bloomberg for president?

Yeah, I’m sure folks in the heartland are gonna rush right out and vote for Thurston Howell III.

  • Cruz 2016- a Constitutional Conservative at last!
Of course he won't win, but it will be lovely to watch him divest himself of a portion of his wealth. Too bad it will go to democrat operatives.

Actually, he might get a lot more mileage out of his $100M if he just ran as an independent. In fact, that might be his real plan - participate in a few dem primaries, then when it becomes clear that the nominee will be one of the far-left wackos, reboot his run as an independent. By not spurning the party outright he'd improve his chances with moderate working-class dems, assuming there still are any of those...

Michael Bloomberg's net worth is about $50 billion. Even if he only spends 5% of that, he will still have spent more than any political candidate in history.

Especially since he has bankrolled his anti-gun outreach program. He's a non-starter.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

The problem with Bloomberg is that nobody knows who he is. Even if you told many Dems that he owned Bloomberg TV among other things, they wouldn't know what that was.
To many young, socialist-minded Dems, he's just another rich, OLD!!!, white male trying to get aboard The Great Socialist Utopian Dream Train. If they know who he is at all...which is doubtful.
