Watergate reporter pens op-ed on 'inevitability' of Trump's impeachment
By Aris Folley - 12/27/18 08:32 PM EST

One of the journalists who reported on the Watergate scandal wrote in an op-ed Thursday about the "inevitability of impeachment" for President Trump.

“An impeachment process against President Trump now seems inescapable. Unless the president resigns, the pressure by the public on the Democratic leaders to begin an impeachment process next year will only increase,” journalist Elizabeth Drew wrote in an op-ed published by The New York Times on Thursday.

Drew points to several happenings in the past few weeks – including Trump’s decision to pull American troops out of Syria, Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis’s resignation, the partial government shutdown, and new revelations in investigations involving the president – as events that she claims have “instilled a new sense of alarm among many Republicans.”

“It always seemed to me that Mr. Trump’s turbulent presidency was unsustainable and that key Republicans would eventually decide that he had become too great a burden to the party or too great a danger to the country. That time may have arrived,” Drew continued.

That’s true enough. But the author appears to forget that it would still have to get past the Senate, and that’s not happening.

So go ahead, democrats, waste everybody’s time and make yourselves look as batshit stupid as the republicans did when they impeached Clinton.  See what that does for you in the 2020 elections.

Not sure they can get it done by the 2020 elections unless they plan to do it after Trump is re-elected...

Every time the President does what 63,000,000 voters expect and want him to do --- keep his promises --- the opposition uses it as cause to remove or force him out of office.  I used to think the meme below was simply clever.  Now I believe it is true.  63 million is all that stands in the way of their unobstructed power.  Remove Trump, suppress those voters for years, if not forever.

Sure they can. They can issue articles of impeachment as soon as they take control of the House next year.

What they can’t do is actually convict him of anything through impeachment because that power lies exclusively with the Senate, and the republicans still control the senate.

The DEM leaders announced their intent to impeach Trump since he was sworn in and their mental midget voting base thinks that they can easily remove him now from office since they will have the majority in the House ... they are clueless.  After the impeachment process fails in the Senate, they will then run their mouths about needing changes in the impeachment process, just like they ran their mouths about needing   changes in the electoral process when Clinton lost.

Yeppers, they are batshit crazy!

America.  Too much diversity.  This is what happens.  There will be NO impeachment.  When black caucus had a letter of impeachment for Obama, on valid issues. Fast & Furious. Benghazi, illegal fraud.  Harry Reid just let it sit on his desk DOA. Never presented it to the senate or anyone. We can do the same. In fact he had 500 + bills from republicans just sit there, DOA.
THEN he and obama blamed the republicans for everything THEY DID, LIKE shut down government.  Reid & Pelosi were in charge last two years of G.Bush's term and destroyed the economy.  Same plan coming up by Schumer & Pelosi. We need to remove all communists from any public office. Pitchforks to D.C.

Reid, the whole 8 obama years would not allow a budget to be presented. Just kept spending.

Agree. Demon-rats were talking impeachment BEFORE his inauguration!  They just need to find something, anything.  Trump will not be impeached. They make up stuff and hope just by saying it over & over it will come true.  They started this 3 years ago!

Sorry...

Mueller wants Dr.Corsi to lie, against Trump, or spend the rest of his life in jail.

What this dude says. The whole topic is a waste of space.

Super Fantastic? I don't think I'd go that far but it does make a point.

Those "Republican" senators are well known for their backbone... I wouldn't bet on them to hold the line on much of anything at this point.

There have to be valid grounds for impeachment.  Not liking the president or disagreeing with his policies are not enough cause to impeach.  Now if the Mueller investigations and the others come up with some actual criminal wrongdoing, then there may be cause.

This article, like all the others before it, is just mere speculation and maybe wishful thinking.  I have yet to see anyone come up with valid grounds to impeach.

Heck, there was criminal wrongdoing in Clinton's case and he still wasn't convicted.  Right now the Dems don't even have that.

The Democommies have nothing, and with spokespeople like Maxine Waters shooting their mouth off, the idiocy of Pelosi, and an endless array of dumb as a stump folks like AOC and Schiff, their tune will become dull and contribute to a major loss for the Dems in 2020.

America has been fooled by them for a long time, but they are getting old like a pair of worn out shoes.
