In his phone call with President Donald Trump, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reportedly promised that Turkey would take responsibility for finishing off the Islamic State group if the U.S. pulled out of Syria, a senior White House official tells NBC News.

"Erdogan said to the president, 'In fact, as your friend, I give you my word in this,'" the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity to disclose details of a presidential phone call.

A second U.S. official confirmed that Erdogan had said during the call that Turkey could deal with any remaining ISIS fighters if Turkey were able to operate in northern Syria.

   I trust this guy to write that cheque for the wall so we can open the Gov back up. 
   His ol lady is almost as hot as Melanie and wears prettier shoes.

I have a hard time believing Trump would believe anything Erdogan says. Especially on serious matters of life and death.

Sounds to me like a controlled leak to spin something to try to get some of the pressure off of Trump's decision there. Donald took a lot of pressure over this decision to withdrawl.

To me they are foreign enemies just as Democrats and most Republicans are domestic enemies.  None of them can be trusted. They all want America to fail. 

Cozying up to Muslim leaders is what Obama did. Did you object to Obama's friendship with leaders whose countries sponsored or encouraged terrorism?  If so, why are you OK with Trump doing the same?

Erdogan sometimes does appear personable. I'm not a hater on him.  Too much rhetoric, that belongs at TOS not here. I am aware of the most basic facts on him, yes, he is a Fundamentalist Sunni supporting MB, probably did support some shady groups in Syria, there's a lot of that around though.

I mean, look, Rulers in the neighborhood are MBS, the Mullahs, Assad... and to an extent, it does seem if some of these gents want to hang on to power, they do have to use an iron-fist.

US envoys are headed to Ankara right now, to see how this deal would work. We might still pull out of our decision for all I know but after making sure, Mattis is out on January 1st, 2019, now it does seem like one can not swallow their pride on this.
