.....Mr. Mattis, who led U.S. Central Command from 2010 to 2013, told the publication that (the President's*) efforts are “unguided by a sustained policy or sound strategy [and] replete with half-measures.”.

.....“It’s a bad strategy, it’s the wrong strategy, and maybe I would tell the president that he would be better served to find somebody who believes in it, whoever that idiot may be,” the former four-star general told the magazine.....

No, I've never heard of this:  https://tinyurl.com/yadz6uqq

Putting the title, source and author in a post is helpful.

Thanks for the link.  I read it.  But I've no interest in what Mattis said two years ago about Obama.

Had @ABX included this information in his original posting, we'd never have wasted time on this conversation.

@ABX wanted Briefers to comment on the article's extraction.  He made it sound like Mattis was talking about President Trump, when in the article from 2016 he was talking about Obama.

He even went so far as to change "Obama" to "(the president).  Here's the actual quote from the article:
Quote
Mr. Mattis, who led U.S. Central Command from 2010 to 2013, told the publication that Mr. Obama’s efforts are “unguided by a sustained policy or sound strategy [and] replete with half-measures.”

Bad strategy, though, I don't exclusively blame presidents for bad economy, I think there is a good chance we will see this next year. Then, with this debacle which obviously, many don't care about and they think the right decision is made but many find fault with it too, there does seem to be a good chance, Trump will not win a 2nd term.

Are you aware the article is about Obama and not President Trump @TomSea

Exactly, that was the point here. Mattis has been consistent. Some want to put on lenses shaded by how they feel about the President instead of what is right or wrong on the issue.

No @ABX your point was to tag this quote from Mattis on President Trump.

Envoy to Anti-ISIS Coalition Quits Over Trump's Syria Move

Brett McGurk, the U.S. envoy to the global coalition fighting the Islamic State group, has resigned in protest to President Donald Trump's abrupt decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria, joining Defense Secretary Jim Mattis in an administration exodus of experienced national security officials.

Only 11 days ago, McGurk had said it would be "reckless" to consider ISIS defeated and therefore would be unwise to bring American forces home. He decided to speed up his plan to leave in mid-February.

The only person who even mentioned Trump's name is you. You are so obsessed, you completely skip past the substance of what he said and focused on if it made your guy look bad or not.

You are making this about Trump versus ISIS strategy.

I think Mattis augmenting his resignation letter with parting shots after the fact is poor form on his part.  He said his piece.

Ah!  Much better.  I wasn't clear on that....

I don't want to hear from Mattis now that he got his parting shots in his resignation letter.  Anything now would not be constructive.
