Trump says he's not concerned about being impeached: 'The people would revolt'

By Emily Birnbaum - 12/11/18 07:47 PM EST

President Trump said during an interview with Reuters on Tuesday that he's not concerned about being impeached, adding he thinks "the people would revolt if that happened."

"It’s hard to impeach somebody who hasn’t done anything wrong and who’s created the greatest economy in the history of our country,” Trump told the news service in an Oval Office interview.

“I’m not concerned, no," he added. "I think that the people would revolt if that happened."

Unless they have legitimate proof of an impeachable offense, I think he is correct.  I think it would push the people to revolt.  Enough is enough.  Keep in mind, he is trying to keep his promises to the people who elected him.  The left has done everything that they can, including making false accusations to stop him from fulfilling those promises.

The left has demonstrated exactly how far they will go in order to stop him.  Like him or not, he IS what we have holding back some of their corruption.

An impeachable offense is nothing more or less than what a sufficient number of representatives decide is worthy of impeachment.

Whether the Senate agrees with them is another matter.  And it’s the senate that will save Trumps bacon if the democrats are stupid enough to impeach him, not some street riots by the orange marmalade crew.

All true ... but I anticipate a show of disapproval should the House actually take up impeachment proceedings.  I think its nothing more than an idle threat to appease their base anyways as they know darn well it's not going to pass in the Senate.

@Oceander

which is why they will do it.   From the Ds point of view it’s a win-win.   They think he’s already weakened, they just won the house back (those 41 R retirements notwithstanding).  Their base will love it if he’s impeached.  If NOTHING else happens, they believe that ata minimum it will weaken him more.  And at the maximum they might be able to bullshit enough people to get public opinion to favor conviction.   But at a minimum they’ll be able to add the word “impeached” to every description of trump leading into 2020.

You can take it to the bank, they’re gonna do it.

Most of these clowns that won GOP seats last month ran as GOP light and said they wouldn't follow Pelosi and the radicals. If they do and impeach they are all gone.

One article he is a dog. The next a pony. Put them together so we can have a real dog and pony show.

I do agree with @corbe. Bizarre.

Maybe it is bazaar. People falling over themselves trying to sell as much as they can in this bull.... market.

Oh, I think he is concerned -- maybe to the point of being terrified.  Trump, like the rest of us, really doesn't know what, if anything Mueller and those NY prosecutors have that might incriminate him in some wrongdoing.  Seems to me the closer these guys may be getting to an endgame, the more Trump lashes out at them.   It's a defense mechanism for him.

Would Trump's followers rise up if he was impeached?  Yes, I think they would -- at least some of them.  We talk about Antifa and all those other violent terrorists, but there are fanatics on the Trump side as well.  They would do anything to defend and protect their hero.

Civil war is coming.  It's been simmering for some time.  The question is when it will happen and what event will precipitate it.

Again, I think it depends on what they try to impeach him on. The evidence would have to be overwhelming and not just some bogus accusations. Mueller pointing the finger is one thing, but it has also been reported that he has prompted people to lie.  Meanwhile...Hillary walks??  If they wrongfully accuse him and try to impeach him, no, it's not gong to sit well at all. Enough is enough.

So far, I don't believe Mueller truly has anything legitimate on him. If they do have something on him, they will wait until the 2020 elections.  Then all hell will break loose.

Those allegations of Mueller prompting witnesses to lie are coming mostly from people biased in favor of Trump and maybe even Trump himself.  I would like to see them prove such wrongdoing on Mueller's part.  Mueller, I believe, is savvy enough to have dicumentation to corroborate or refute whatever the witnesses are telling him.  I suspect that's how it was determined that Manafort told a few whoppers.  What he said and whatever documentary evidence exists do not jibe.

I think though that there will be some who are so enthralled with Trump, they will rise up, regardless of whether any allegations of wrongdoing made against Trump are true   No one likes it when I say his fans are like a cult, but I believe for at least some of them, this is a cult.  And cults are dangerous.

Perhaps... true.   But..... you have to ask yourself.  What's more dangerous.  Trump-loving supporters....

or radical Marxist leftist Democrats.

So far.... I see the radical left as the real danger here and now.

This is a fight. I don't give a bleep about the details of how Trump paid some whore long before he ran for president. Also if Putin helped stop Hillary in 2016 I owe him a beer. Donald Trump is universally hated by the globalists because he's a nationalist that fights for Americans. He has my support until that is no longer true.

Fanatics, regardless of stripe, are dangerous.    Any of them at any time can go off the rails.  Unlike Antifa, Black Lives Matter and the usual crazies, we just haven't seen what the Trump cultists are capable of...yet.

??? The Senate will not vote in favor of impeachment ... bank on it. IMHO, The GOP needs to do 4 things before 2020 in order to keep the WH and hold their majority in the Senate:

1)  Continue to point out the corruption of the left and FIGHT back.

2)  Get with the RNC and get more states to have closed primaries.

3)  Ensure that the electoral process has news safeguards in place to keep the massive corruption of the left from destroying/stealing the election.

4)  The Senate needs to be very steadfast and show their unity in supporting this President.

Unfortunately, I don't see them doing any of these things.

I never assume that I know what people are thinking or what they're wanting to do.... except for when it comes to what most leftist radicals are thinking and what they went to do.  I have studied and observed them for over two decades.  It's like a constant in the universe.

But I do assume that people are capable of pretty much anything when their lives and that of their families and their future freedom is at stake.  I can identify with that, as well.  The reality is... our lives and future freedom is more at stake now than ever before... and we are fast approaching a day when a critical decision must be made.  I know exactly which "side" I'll be on when that day comes.

I’m pretty sure they’ll do it as well, because in their haste to take revenge for the impeachment of Clinton they have forgotten that the GOP suffered for that stunt.  The GOP back then also thought they would get a political dividend out of weakening Clinton and tarring him with impeachment; they were wrong.

There in fact seem to be some voices of reason in the DNC warning their fellow travelers not to go down the impeachment rabbit hole, but I think they’re being drowned out by the ideologues.

Seems you are proving what I said.  The ones who worship Trump as a god really don't care if he murders someone so long as he is "making America great again" -- whatever the hell that means.

To me Donald Trump is a weapon. In a fight for survival you don't always get to be picky about how you defend yourself. Sometimes you have to pick up an ugly looking rock and bash somebody in the head with it.

But the party that does this without the support of the people is in big ass trouble.
