ISIS leader involved in beheading U.S. soldier 'killed' in Syria

Senior ISIS leader involved in the beheading of U.S. Army Ranger and aid worker, Peter Kassig, is 'killed in a drone strike' in Syria

Abu al Umarayn, along with several other ISIS members, was killed in the precision drone strike on Sunday in Syria, according to the U.S. led coalition
Umarayn was involved in the brutal beheading of U.S. Army Ranger and Syrian aid worker Peter Kassig in 2014
Kassig was captured in Syria in October 2013 after working to provide aid to Syrians fleeing the civil war - he'd converted to Islam in captivity
The U.S.-led coalition said in a statement on Sunday that 'Al Umarayn had given indications of posing an imminent threat to Coalition Forces'

Damascus (AFP) - An Islamic State group leader involved in the execution of American aid worker Peter Kassig and other Western prisoners was targeted in a strike Sunday by the US-led anti-jihadist coalition in Syria.

Kassig, aged 26 at the time of his death, was among a group of prisoners decapitated by jihadists in November 2014. The mass execution was shown in a video released by the group.

"Coalition forces conducted precision strikes against a senior ISIS member, Abu al Umarayn, and several other ISIS members in the Badiyah Desert, Syria," said Sean Ryan, spokesman for the US-led coalition, in a statement in English.
