Last month, several dozen religious leaders reaffirmed a number of radical economic propositions contained within the 1973 Chicago Declaration of Evangelical Social Concern.

“Before God and a billion hungry neighbors, we must rethink our values regarding our present standard of living,” proclaims the document. The document goes on to lament the “materialism of our culture and the maldistribution of the nation’s wealth and services.”

According to these leaders, the United States holds a “crucial role in the balance and injustice of international trade and development.” To secure an “abundant life for all of God’s children,” these activists propose “a more just acquisition and redistribution of the world’s resources.”

Communism is just one more name for organized religion. This is why the commies and the Bible-Thumpers have hated each other so much over the last century. They were competitors.

Well, kind of. In organized religion there is a God and people have a choice to worship or not or how to worship, whereas under communism the government is god and people have absolutely no choice but to worship exactly as they are told and there is no waiting till the afterlife for punishment.

I really don't care what they admit, my parents and grandparents were in Hungary when the Russians installed their religion and I think they had a better view of communism and it's reality. I also met my Dads nephew when he came to visit once and he was an eye opener, one very devout communist sheeple.

Guy in his early fifties next to me, looked like he could take care of himself, agreed vehemently.

He says "I know socialism. I came from Poland"

I said "I'm glad you're here."

He smiled and offered to shake my hand.

My fathers sisters child, he was indoctrinated as a small child, I wouldn't say he liked it, more like loved it, and just like here there will always be the few that want government to care for them in all things. My fathers sister was very jealous that my parents and grand parents fled and made a very good life in America, even though she was given the chance to come over by my parents. The thing is that my parents never talked that much about my Aunt because the only time they heard from her is when she wanted something from her 'rich' brother in America.

I remember reading a story about some Israeli immigrants from a variety of countries including Russia.  The immigrants who had the hardest time adjusting to life in a country where the gov. doesn't do everything for you was, of course, the Russian immigrants.
That is what socialism does to people...it infantilizes them even if it doesn't make them slaves.
