    14,000 Unaccompanied Immigrant Children in U.S. Custody

    A RECORD 14,000 IMMIGRANT CHILDREN BEING HELD IN U.S. DETENTION CENTERS

    (CNN) – U.S. Health and Human Services reports a record 14,000 immigrant children are now living in U.S. detention camps and shelters.

    That’s up from the 2016 monthly average of 4,000 to 9,000 children.

    Health and Human Services says the high number of detained children is because of Trump-administration policies to “reduce risk and increase safety.”

Attempts should be made to identify their parents in the respective countries of origin, and then they should be RETURNED to those parents.
