No more division; the country needs bipartisanship

To the Editor:

In the Summer of 2018, Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez declared that a Democratic Socialist, yes, a dues-paying member of the Democratic Socialists of America is the “Future of the Party.” This candidate, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also believes in abolishing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, open borders and also claiming undocumented immigrants deserve “right of passage” into the United States. If this is the future, we can all say goodbye to the United States of America. This “progressive socialist” also wants to offer free tuition, and Medicare for all? The United States Government has enough debt and and higher debt, and higher taxes on the rich isn’t even close enough to even cover a fraction of all the “free” offers. I think we can all agree that our taxes are already high enough living in NJ. I’m trying to figure out what Math classes she forgot to take and if the campaign slogan of choice is now to just offer free stuff that will never happen.

"Bipartisanship" = surrender to the democrat-communists.

No thanks.

I prefer my partisanship straight up, if you please.

Yep. Partisanship and strength of convictions go hand in hand.

Definition hasn't changed.

Bipartisan: synonym for Date Rape.
My 'Viking Hunter' High Adventure Alternate History Series is FREE, ALL 3 volumes, at most ebook retailers including Ibooks, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and more.

In Vol 2 the weapons come out in a winner take all war on two fronts.

Vol 3 opens with the rigged murder trial of the villain in a Viking Court under Viking law to set the stage for the hero's own murder trial.

Interesting factoid:  The word "bipartisanship" only appears in the publication-supplied headline...nowhere in the actual letter at the link.  The letter writer had no intention of demanding it, it is a product of the fevered mind of the editor.

I do see "bi-partisanship" in the third paragraph of the letter.

However your point remains quite well-made; "bipartisanship" is *not* the theme of the letter.  If anything the letter advocates Republican policies.

It'll be sad to watch the country fall apart after the left takes complete control due to Republicans being averse to any compromise.

What would you *specifically* recommend the Republicans compromise on @Dexter   Do tell.

Social conservatism. I've said it a dozen times already. Economic conservative issues are winners at the polls. Social conservative issues are losers, and it's getting worse. Christianity will be the doom of economic conservatism.

FTA:

Quote
My Parents emigrated here from Germany and Slovakia as well as millions of others legally waited and followed the law to emigrate to the USA. They fought to live, to find work, to pay bills, raise a family and live the American Dream by following the law. What has changed? Why is it that our representatives care more about those not even in the USA yet? What about the voters, here and now who live here, work here and pay some of the highest taxes in NJ.

We have all heard about free this and free that but in all honesty, nothing is ever free and the taxpayer will ultimately pay the price like we have for years. People want different ideas and solutions that show progress and not just empty words, or punch lines. Voters want true leadership, problem solvers, bi-partisanship and someone who dares to be different. How about cutting taxes on small business, middle class and providing more tax breaks for smaller business and not just big business? By the way, what ever happened to that “Public Bank” the Governor campaigned on?

You cannot have one without the other.   Socially liberal policies ultimately lead to bigger government, because people demand the government pay for their choices.

Yes, "social conservatism" seems pretty easy to cast off for some people.  Good luck with that, @Dexter.

I very much disagree. There are secular conservatives. Economic conservatism can exist completely independent of social conservatism. I think the real issue is a lot of Christian conservatives care about the social issues more than the economic ones. Because of that they will go down with the ship over the social issues and take the economy with them.

It's a futile effort I am realizing. Conservatism in the United States will be gone within two decades.

50 years of watching politics has taught me that "bi-partisanhip" is a mere buzz word that means liberals want their way, even when they are not in control.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

And 50 years after that, conservatism will be back with a vengeance because leftist policies ALWAYS devolve into totalitarianism....it’s the natural progression. And eventually via external wars or internal revolutions, the people will yearn to throw off that yoke.

Personally, I’d prefer a dissolution of this country into two or three.   I’d much rather an amicable divorce than a murder-suicide.

Thanks to technology there's a good chance that the next wave of authoritarianism will never be defeated.

@Dexter
1). Then you should wise up and stop supporting those things that will lead to  authoritarianism and abdicating the fight before it’s been lost

2). I’ll take mans innate desire to be free over technology any and  every day.
