Broward County recount delayed thanks to technical glitches

Technical issues have delayed the Florida recount of seven contests in Broward County.
Glitches pushed a recount of more than 700,000 ballots back by hours, according to the Miami Herald.
The sorting of ballots was scheduled to begin at 7 a.m., but the process didn't get underway until nearly noon. Actual counting of ballots for contests that include the U.S. Senate and gubernatorial races could be delayed for days.
Florida is crucial to the 2020 cycle, making it a key pickup for either party. If Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., is able to win re-election, it will reduce Democrats' losses to 1-2 seats.
Nelson currently trails Gov. Rick Scott, R-Fla., by a slim 12,562-vote margin — a difference of 0.15 percent, which on Saturday triggered an automatic recount.
The gubernatorial contest between Republican Ron DeSantis and Democrat Andrew Gillum, and race for state agriculture commissioner, also were close enough to qualify for machine recounts.
President Trump has alleged voter fraud in Florida, casting doubt on the election process. Scott has too, singling out Broward and Palm Beach Counties during a Thursday press conference in which he announced a lawsuit against Broward County Election Supervisor Brenda Snipes for failing to disclose ballot-counting information.
However, as of Saturday, the Florida Department of Elections had found no evidence of criminal activity in Broward County's handling of the midterm elections.
