"Saturday Night Live" comic Pete Davidson on Saturday night's show mocked Texas congressional candidate Dan Crenshaw (R) for wearing an eye patch after losing his eye in combat while serving in Afghanistan, prompting swift backlash on social media from conservatives defending the former Navy SEAL.

The comment from Davidson came during a segment on the show's mock newscast, "Weekend Update."

For a great many years now it has become SATURDAY NIGHT how LOW can you go. I know people who tell me that it's still funny, but I can honestly say I haven't watched it in decades, unless it was reruns of the first two seasons.

I never watched that program, with the exception of possibly once or twice (years ago) when they had a band performing that I wanted to see. Not even sure of that.

No interest in television "comedy" -- or in much comedy at all (except for that provided by the NT'ers right here!)

I stopped watching SNL regulary when it became a Clinton love fest.  I think the last good cast was in the late 1980's.

Why liberals laughed at a wounded veteran

Conservatives rightly are getting on the case of Peter Michael Davidson of the SNL political hour for mocking a Navy SEAL's war wound. The target was Texas congressional candidate Dan Crenshaw whose only crime is being a Republican.

Davidson is now as repulsive as Samantha Bee, who called the First Daughter the C-word, and Stephen Colbert, who called the president a homophobic slur.

No one lost their job. They said this in scripted, taped remarks.

That means they spoke for their network and its corporate owner. Is it no wonder that no one trusts the news on NBC (Davidson), CNN (Bee by way of Time-Warner) or CBS?

But what about the liberals who laugh like hyenas at this ableist, sexist, and homophobic garbage?  ...

The hate stems from self-hatred. They have no self-respect, and no respect for anyone or anything. Especially America.

Jesus said love your enemies. Methinks it is because they cannot love themselves.

Texas Republican Dan Crenshaw was attacked on national television over the weekend. He was the basis of a joke on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update skit, where Pete Davidson decided to poke fun at the GOP candidate because he lost his eye; Crenshaw is a former Navy SEAL.

“You may be surprised to hear he’s a Congressional candidate from Texas and not a hitman in a porno movie. I’m sorry, I know he lost his eye in war, or whatever,” said Davidson.
