U.S. militia groups head to border, stirred by Trump’s call to arms

FALFURRIAS, Tex. — Gun-carrying civilian groups and border vigilantes have heard a call to arms in President Trump’s warnings about threats to American security posed by caravans of Central American migrants moving through Mexico. They’re packing coolers and tents, oiling rifles and tuning up aerial drones, with plans to form caravans of their own and trail American troops to the border.

“We’ll observe and report, and offer aid in any way we can,” said Shannon McGauley, a bail bondsman in the Dallas suburbs who is president of the Texas Minutemen. McGauley said he was preparing to head for the Rio Grande in coming days.

“We’ve proved ourselves before, and we’ll prove ourselves again,” he said.

McGauley and others have been roused by the president’s call to restore order and defend the country against what Trump has called “an invasion,” as thousands of Central American migrants advance slowly through southern Mexico toward the U.S. border. Trump has insisted that “unknown Middle Easterners,” “very tough fighters,” and large numbers of violent criminals are traveling among the women, children and families heading north on foot.

Lol... I have news for Nick and Mary.  Some of those militia groups were already AT the border.

We have a large number of Klan members in Texas.  They are here, you just don't hear about them.  They have military training on their own.  They will be at the border, too, may already be there, staking out their terrority to guard.

This works until the informal militias come into disagreement with the Regular Army or National Guard units.

Because the regular militias, army/military and NG have blacks and Hispanics/Mexicans in and among their ranks.  And they really don't approve of the KKK.

The militia that are KKK are not going to be wearing sheets.  That said, if the Army or National Guard come across a group with Swastikas tattooed all over their skinheads, they will be rebuffed and told to find another fishing hole.  I doubt very much they'd shoot at each other.

We don't have many Klan members here.  Sorry, @Victoria33, that may have been true 50-60 years ago, but it isn't now.

They organize differently than they did in the 80s and that is why you do not know who they are.  The Grand Dragon of Texas wrote a book to reorganize them so they could not be tracked and that is what they do here and in other states now.

A family member knows the Grand Dragon and how the individuals contact each other.  If a "group" self identifies as members of the Klan, and they have a meeting place, that gives law enforcement a way to know who they are.  They are now individuals who have ways to contact each other so they are not public as they used to be.  Do not think the Klan is not in Texas, plus the Grand Dragon is still here.
