Reminder: Wind Power Blows—and Also Sucks

It gets tiresome to note the limitations and lamosity of niche wind power, but who’d have thought that wind power might also make global warming worse. But that’s just what a new Harvard study reported recently the MIT Technology Review concludes.

Wide-scale US wind power could cause significant warming

Wind power is booming in the United States. It’s expanded 35-fold since 2000 and now provides 8% of the nation’s electricity. The US Department of Energy expects wind turbine capacity to more than quadruple again by 2050.

But a new study by a pair of Harvard researchers finds that a high amount of wind power could mean more climate warming, at least regionally and in the immediate decades ahead. The paper raises serious questions about just how much the United States or other nations should look to wind power to clean up electricity systems.

In time, the disaster of wind farming will litter unused rusting hulks in the countryside with monuments to stupidity.

They require far too much to maintain as they age, and are simply hyped-up government subsidies.

As an absolute minimum, every company that builds a windmill should be required to post a bond guaranteeing a fund that can be used to take them down when time comes for abandonment.

No punishment, in my opinion, is too great, for the man who can build his greatness upon his country's ruin~  George Washington

Mining companies are required to back fill open pit mines after they are through returning the land to a usable state, are they not? So, yes operators of giant Mr. Chop Chops should be required to remove them along with the enormous concrete bases, a further requirement should be for them to reintroduce to the areas the same number of raptors, other avians and bats slaughtered by the devices.................with no assistance from the taxpayer.

I am in the oil business.  All operators who drill wells are required by law to plug the wells and restore the land to its original condition as reasonably it can as possible.

That also pertains to the facilities like tanks and pipelines, but also even the roads into those places.
