Migrants traveling with the 7,000-strong caravan headed to the U.S.-Mexico border to overwhelm the country’s asylum and immigration system are admitting that they are merely foreign workers looking for jobs.

Migrants with the caravan — many of whom are previously deported illegal aliens — recently admitted to the Washington Post in interviews that they are economic migrants, not asylum-seekers.

Evin Mata, a 21-year-old previously deported illegal alien, told the Post that his travels with the caravan to the southern border are about getting a U.S. job, which is not an eligible claim for asylum.

“We are workers,” Mata said. “What are we supposed to do in Honduras if there’s no work?”

Well apparently the answer is, you invade another country and leech off of its citizens, stealing and destroying on your way.

You're supposed to take some responsibility for the idiots you allow to be in charge of "leading" and running your nation.  Just like the idiots in Venezuela that voted socialist (communist) all in the name of getting "free stuff"... you are supposed to take FULL responsibility for your choices and work to change things, if they aren't the way you want them in your country.   What you're not supposed to do is just walk away from the problems your apathy has helped to create... and go invade another nation, thus victimizing the legal citizens of that nation that did take responsibility for their choices.

That's probably over the heads (and pay grade) of most of these ""refugees", but worth a shot (pardon pun).

No quarter given to the enemy within...ever.

We need to revive the old Bracero program,  so folks can come here to work - without their families - and then return home after the work is done.   We need folks in this country to work -  available jobs now exceed by hundreds of thousands those who are without jobs but willing to work.

That's not to excuse, of course,  thousands of folks recruited to march to the border and force their way in (although for many it makes sense to caravan because there is safety in numbers and it's a better alternative to paying one's life savings to a smuggler).   But the phenomenon of these caravans is ultimately a function of our inability to reach a political compromise on the subject of necessary legal immigration.

The current political stand-off creates raw wounds that cannot heal.   Employers can't fill the positions they need without resort to the underground market,  and there are plenty of folks willing to risk all just to have the opportunities for work they cannot find where they were born.   Unfortunately,  these lawless caravans undermine the cause of those of us who favor generous legal immigration as essential to keep our economy humming.

If I can't find a job here, I should forcefully invade another country?  So confusing!

And put people in the other country out of work.

Not yet, since there are plenty of jobs right now.  But rest assured.... when the Democrats get back in power (and they will).... they will make shock-sure that only their new friends, the refugees, have jobs.  Their main reward for voting Democrat.

And put people in the other country out of work.

Ceasar Chavez, head of the American Farm Worker union, opposed illegal immigration, because it lowered the pay of his members.

The Bracero program ran from 1942 until 1964. The purpose of the program was to fill labor shartages, whild native born people served in uniform during WWII.

I am fairly certain we have temporary programs, for legal seasonal workers.

Not that anyone truly believes the invading masses have any interest whatsoever in getting jobs in the U.S.

I suspect that their main interest is some of that "free stuff" from the Obama stash.

If Rush is right, this is entirely political. He said the caravan was a bunch of Marxists protesting that their guy lost power in the last election.

Of course we do.  Don't you remember the news articles about Trump hiring foreign workers for the season at Mar A Lago?

Accurate and thoughtful.
The Europeans, born w/an innovative impulse, understood that
work is a catalyst for creativity and an agent of self-discipline.
The Latins, genetic offspring of the Aztec and Inca, have no such
impulse, hence their attitude and behavior.
They tolerate/encourage incompetent rule and when the going
gets too tough for them, they head elsewhere w/their hand out!
More important than brains; they are devoid of courage!!!

Well. I'll give them a couple of points for honesty.

But that doesn't change my opinion that they should go home.

We do.  I know a Jamaican who works a few months out of the year (summer) in Cape Cod, then he is home for the balance of the year.

I don't care what you do.
I don't care if you don't have work.
I don't care if your women and children are going hungry.
I just don't care, period.

I DO CARE if you try to invade MY country.
Which is what you are doing.
And I believe every action should be taken to keep you out.
That includes using weapons against you, and your women and children, if necessary.

I just don't care.
Sorry if some don't like this posting.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
So if someone finds a big deposit of rare earths in Honduras, by the same logic can we just mob in and take it, because we need it?

We used to call that imperialism and exploitation back in the day.
The Republic is lost.

If there is a deposit of rare earths there, we will do as we did with the Sauds,  We will hep them develop it and then buy it, at fair market prices.
