NORFOLK, Va. — Eight sailors were injured Friday aboard the Norfolk-based aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower during an aircraft landing off Virginia's coast, the Navy said.

All eight were in stable condition and none had life-threatening injuries, Cmdr. Mike Kafka of Naval Air Force Atlantic said in a news release.

Six were taken by helicopter to hospitals in Norfolk and Portsmouth, Kafka said. Two were treated on board the Eisenhower.

Carrier landings are very dangerous business and its amazing more are not hurt.  I'm glad no one was seriously injured.  A parted arresting cable could be deadly.
