The second-ranking Republican in the Senate said Friday that the GOP would delay a vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to allow for an FBI probe into allegations of sexual misconduct against the judge.

"There's going to be a supplemental FBI background investigation" Majority Whip Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said Friday. The Texas Republican said the delay would last no longer than a week.

Cornyn, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and a number of other Republicans had huddled in McConnell's office Friday afternoon to discuss how to proceed on the confirmation following a call from three key senators to delay the vote.

Keep it all confidential... nobody knows... and be sure, there is some oversight of the investigation.

I almost wonder if Kavanaugh could sue for his civil liberties, something, being violated.

    Republicans in the Senate have agreed to delay a vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation for one week to allow for an FBI probe into allegations of sexual misconduct against the judge, according to a statement issued by the Senate Judiciary Committee Friday.

    "The supplemental FBI background investigation would be limited to current credible allegations against the nominee and must be completed no later than one week from today."

    The agreement reached Friday will hand over to the White House a final decision on whether the FBI conducts an investigation, though the president has signaled his willingness to go along with the GOP leadership.

What if they pull the plug on the investigation, the listed deadline is next Thursday, perhaps Friday, I saw it listed.

The Senate is such a cesspool. So disappointing. What are the odds the vote will ever happen? Or the weak sister Republicans will ever vote for Kavanaugh? Or that one democrat will for him? Slim and none.
